A330 DOORS
Plug type Cargo Door
Mechanically locked and manually operated. Opens inward, then upward and can be opened from the inside or the outside.
Emergency exits in cockpit
2 sliding windows Can only be opened on the inside using the window control handles Escape rope located in cockpit above window
Cargo Compartment Doors
3 doors located on the right side of the fuselage, below the cabin floor.
Doors and emergency exits
6 cabin doors 2 emergency exits in cabin (plug type exits) Cockpit door Cockpit emergency exits (2) 3 Cargo compartment doors Avionics compartment access door
Plug doors
6 total outward and forward opening plug type doors 2 forward 2 mid 2 aft Can be operated from either inside or outside Normal operation is manual with hydraulic dampening and a gust lock mechanism
When will the control unit supply power to heated the related floor panel?
If the temp goes below 29 degrees C (84.2 degrees F)
When will the control unit switch off the power to the floor panel?
If the temp rises above 32 degrees C
Electrically Heated Floor Panels
Installed at all exit door areas, including the emergency exits. Increase the temp of the cabin floor in the area of the doors. Control units, connected to sensors, measure temp of each heated floor panel. Installed in the under floor compartments. Safety switches (fuses) protect heated floor panel. Can stop power to panel.
Avionics Compartment Access Door
Inward opening, manually operated hinged door giving access to the avionics compartment in the lower fuselage. Can be opened from the inside or the outside. Ladder stowed inside compartment, adjacent to door. Can also be accessed via a floor hatch in cockpit, located behind captain's seat. A fixed ladder is also in avionics compartment for access from cockpit.
Emergency exits
Plug type on each side of cabin (2) Equipped with n escape slide stowed in he compartment below the cabin floor
Forward and Aft Cargo Door
Upward opening doors, mechanically locked and hydraulically actuated by the yellow system. If yellow system fails, can be pressurized by using a hand pump located on maintenance panel. Can only be opened from outside. Residual cabin pressure is indicated by a red light, fitted in the locking handle's housing. Only when door open indicator light shows door is in the open position is it safe to begin loading. Flag indicators show whether or not door is fully locked. A popped- out indicator signifies that a hook is not locked.
T/F it is safe for the ground crew to open the passenger door if the red cabin pressure light is illuminated.
False
Cockpit door
Forward opening hinged door that separates cockpit and cabin. In an emergency, door can be forced open in either direction. Door equipped with electrical locking latch, controlled by the DOOR UNLOCK pb on pedestal. Also has an eye level viewing lens.
Functions of DSCS
(1). Door and warning system to indicate on ECAM the status of each door such as LOCKED or UNLOCKED. (2). An escape slide warning system to indicate on the ECAM and on the slide warning light, the status of the slide, such as ARMED or DISARMED. (3). An overpressure warning system to indicate an excessive residual differential cabin pressure to the passenger doors, the emergency exits, and the FWD and AFT Cargo doors. (4). Provides electrical control of the FWD and AFT Cargo doors. (5). Also prevents aircraft pressurization with one engine operating when a door such as a CABIN, CARGO, or BULK is not fully closed and locked, or if a sensor is defective. Sends a signal to the cabin pressure system to keep outflow valves open and to zone controller to close pack flow control valves.
Door and Slides Control System (DSCS)
Consists of: Proximity switches installed on each door The Proximity Switch Control Unit A pressure switch detecting cabin pressure Autonomous standby power supply
Cockpit Door Escape Panel
Designed to be pushed open in the direction of the cabin, after removal of the quick release pins.
Passenger door
Each has an emergency opening system. When armed, opening either pax door will release an escape slide and emergency raft.
Boarding Ladder
Stowed inside avionics compartment. Allows access from outside.
