1997 The golden age of AI begins

AI began to flourish again in 1997, when Deep Blue, an AI, was able to defeat Gary Kasparov, a famous chess player.

1957 - 1974 AI flourished

AI flourished, but the world hit a wall with the lack of computer power available at the time, which caused many investors to pull out in disappointment

Entertainment Industry

AI has already started to be incorporated into our everyday lives. You may not realize it, but almost every entertainment platform from YouTube, to Netflix, to TikTok, is utilizing AI. Ever wondered how YouTube and Netflix can recommend videos and movies to you? At the center of both of these companies are artificial intelligence systems that collect and process user data to best recommend shows and movies. TikTok works the same way with its For You page, which is a never-ending, and constantly evolving stream of short videos based on your previous interactions. Every time you like, comment or rewatch a video, TikTok's AI system notes that the topic of the video may be of interest to you and will put similar videos into your feed.

Education

AI is becoming more and more a part of our everyday lives. You can think of it as a companion. It can help you with your education, and your career, or help you make decisions. AI can be used in education to help you better understand a problem or topic. Many students use it in computer science to help them navigate the programming world. It is also being used by many for Law School as some of the AI programs out there, like chatgpt have not only passed the bar exam but with high marks.

1975- 1981 AI plateaued

AI was not on par with what investors had wanted. The AI at the time was capable of handling mathematics, but not languages or human ideas.

Self driving cars

Cars, a daily part of most Americans' lives, have also been impacted by AI. Many modern cars offer self-parking features that are powered through the use of AI. Companies like Tesla, take it a step further with their packages that start at autopilot, which only works with certain road types like highways, and ends at a full self-driving package. In some cities, like Phoenix, Arizona, you can get fully autonomous vehicles from companies like Uber to pick you up and drop you off at your desired destination. By 2035, it is estimated that 30 percent of the cars on the road will have self-driving capabilities, whether it be parking, autopilot on highways, or full self-driving ability.

Decision making

If you are not informed about a topic, you can have AI give you a brief summary, which you can then use to make a more informed decision.

1982 Japan investments

In 1982, Japan poured 400 million dollars into AI development, but turned up short of any major achievements, causing investors to pull out again. They had wanted the AI to use human reasoning regarding various topics but were only able to get it to work with computer science and mathematics.

Logic Theorist

Logic Theorist was the first AI program developed in 1955 to mimic humans' problem-solving skills in regard to mathematics.

"AI" was coined by John McCarthy

The term "AI" was coined by John McCarthy, a computer scientist, in the 1950s, but John Von Neumann and Alan Turing are considered the founding fathers of AI because they created the decimal and binary logic technology behind AI.

Career

There is not a career field that AI doesn't already have a foothold in, so knowing how it can help you with your career may prove to be very beneficial to you. For example, if you are someone who is interested in marking, AI can be used to generate new marketing techniques and strategies.

The present use of AI

This brings us to the 2000s and present where we have the both the data and computer power to affectively use AI in many different applications from business to health care to the car industry. In the past 10 years, we have achieved more with AI than the preceding six decades have combined.
