An extremely wealthy person. In a monarchy, they helped make decisions. They were the oligarchs.

Because of the mountains, communication was hard. It took a long time for one letter to go to the next, and travel was cruel because of the shape of the mountains.

The one person who made decisions was called a king. They made decisions with their council of aristocrats. They punished people who were disobedient. When I died, my first son took over for me. I lost power because the aristocrats took over, because they thought they could do better.

The greeks did not have much level land. How did they meet this challenge?

They met this challenge by raising, not cattle, but goats and sheep. They could live on a hillside. They also traded for what they couldn't grow. They grew olives, fruit, grapes, and nuts.

They traded olive oil and pottery for grain, timber, and meta from the mainland.

When the Greeks came in contact with other cultures. How did this affect the history of Ancient Greece?

This affected their clothing, food, language, and so much more. How they thought about things, and how they did stuff. It affected them greatly.

democracy

This was the final act of government. It was when everyone had a vote, and they were called citizens. There was no king, so everyone ruled by letting everyone have a say. Not all Greeks liked Democracy because choosing took longer, there was more confusion, and the rich didn't get richer. A Democracy helped Greece because rich didn't get richer, the money went to the extremely poor. This helped the economy.

tyranny

This was when one person, a war captain, came into power. They became king by force, and promising people things to people, especially the poor. They promised more rights and made changes to help the poor. The majority liked them because they made favorites, and the favorites had a say. Most everyone was a favorite, if you helped him.They lost power because they sometimes ruled harshly, and ignored the needs of the people. They were forced out of power.

oligarchy

Three people ruled, as oligarchs, and were usually wealthy people, or aristocrats. They made decisions that benefitted the wealthy. They only thought of themselves. They lost power because the poor figured out that it wasn't fair. The army promised more things for the poor, and eventually the army overthrew the oligarchs. The oligarchs were not chosen, they were usually the richest people.
