MEMORIAL SERVICE
A ceremony commemorating the deceased without the body present.
IMMEDIATE BURIAL
A disposition of human remains by burial without formal viewing, visitation or ceremony with the body present, except for a graveside service.
DIRECT CREMATION
A disposition of human remains by cremation without formal viewing, visitation or ceremony with the body present.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE
Funeral service that is held at the grave site rather than in the funeral home or church. A ceremony or ritual, religious or otherwise, conducted at the grave. Ceremony commemorating the deceased at place of final disposition.
IMMEDIATE DISPOSITION
Any disposition of a human remains which is completely devoid of any form of funeral rite at the time of disposition.
INTERMENT (BURIAL / INHUMEMENT)
The act of placing the dead human body in the ground.
FINAL DISPOSITION
The burial or other disposition on a permanent basis of a dead human body, cremated remains or parts of a dead human body and or fetus. The conclusive performance of services with respect to the dead human body.
ENTOMBMENT
The placing of a remains in a crypt in a mausoleum.
CREMATION
The reduction of a dead human body to inorganic bone fragments by intense heat in a specifically designed retort or chamber.
DISINTERMENT (EXHUMATION)
The removal of a human remains previously buried in the earth.
