Averaging: The score that is reported to your instructor is the average score of your attempts as of the deadline, including any work you have saved but not submitted for grading. For example, in the following table, the final score is 6.3 because it is the average of the three scores (5+4+103=6.35+4+103=6.3). Keep the Highest: Your score is calculated by taking the highest score of the attempts you make. Using the example in the following table, the final score is 10 because it is your highest score. The other attempts are not counted. Do No Harm: The goal of this method is to encourage you to practice without fear of decreasing your score. Your first attempt is your base score; the second attempt counts and is averaged with the first only if it is higher than the first; the third attempt counts (as an equal part) if it is higher than the average of the previously counted attempts. In other words, additional attempts that will negatively affect your overall average will not be taken into account. The example in the following table shows the final score is 7.5 (the average of 5 and 10, or 152152), because the second attempt would lower your overall score and is, therefore, not included. Unlike radio button questions, which contain only one correct answer, a checkbox question may contain multiple correct answers. In some checkbox questions, all of the options may be correct or all may be incorrect. You need to evaluate each checkbox answer separately and determine whether it is valid. Understanding how checkboxes are graded can be a bit tricky. After you select Check Answer, a green check mark will appear to the left of your response if you correctly selected the box next to a correct answer; you will also see a green check mark if you correctly left an incorrect answer not selected. Similarly, a red X will appear next to any box that you incorrectly selected, as well as any that you incorrectly left not selected. Answer the following question to see a check box in action. Which of the following are animals? Check all that apply.

Horses Dogs

Each Aplia page contains at least one question for you to answer. Your answers may or may not be graded as part of your course work, depending on whether your instructor assigns a problem in Practice mode or Graded mode: 1.Practice mode allows you to familiarize yourself with material without affecting your grade. The only difference from Graded mode is that Practice mode won't show up in the Grade Book (or, in case of the MindTap, the Progress App). Your instructor won't see how you performed on practice questions but will see which questions you attempted. Practice mode questions may or may not be randomized. If practice questions are randomized, then every student in the class sees a different version of the question. If they are not randomized, then every student sees the same question.2.Graded mode is used for questions that count toward your grade, unlike Practice mode. Graded questions can be set in a Grade It Now mode or, alternatively, not in Grade It Now mode. In Grade It Now mode, you will receive feedback either upon submission or at the due date, depending on which setting your instructor has chosen. Read the passage about the Grade It Now mode. Then, answer the questions that follow. Grade It Now In Grade It Now mode, the questions are randomized and allow you to attempt each question up to three times. After each variation, you can receive immediate grading and feedback by selecting the Grade It Now button. This will reveal the points you earned for each task as well as a blue region containing an explanation after each part within the question. If you want to save your work but aren't ready for it to be graded, you can pause or move ahead to other problems by selecting the Save & Continue button. This allows you to come back to problems you are unsure of and resume working on them at any time before the due date. After you have completed an attempt by selecting the Grade It Now button and reading the explanations, you can continue on to the next question, or you can attempt another version of the same question by selecting the Try Another Version button. The different versions of a question cover the same concept or information, but with a different setup, example, or numbers. If you select Try Another Version, be sure to complete the new version of the question, or you risk a zero on the attempt. If you save your work and don't complete anything, you'll receive a zero for that attempt. Similarly, if you select Save & Continue for a question and then fail to return to finish it, your incomplete work will be graded at the deadline and may affect your final score—depending on the scoring method your instructor has chosen.

PART 1:For Practice mode questions, what will your instructor see? Answer :Which questions you attempted but not your scores part 2: How many times are you able to attempt a question in Grade It Now mode? Answer: Three part 3: How do you move on to another question after you select Grade It Now and read the explanation? Answer: Select the Continue button.

Radio buttons also require you to select one option from a given set of options, but this question type may appear in a variety of formats. The following is an example of the most common radio button format. Answer the following question to see a radio button in action. What color is a ripe strawberry?

Red

Asking for help If you are having problems with the website, please contact support at http://support.cengage.com. Remember, the more specific you can be about the exact nature of the problem you are experiencing, the more effectively the support team can answer your question. For example, if you write, "I can't select answers for the first part of problem 1 in Introduction to Working on Aplia Assignments," the support team will be able to pinpoint the source of the problem more precisely than if you write, "I can't select answers in the assignment." If you are writing about a mistake in an Aplia question, please include a screen shot that shows the mistake you have found. In which of the following situations should you contact support? Check all that apply.

Your course key doesn't work. You find a mistake in an Aplia question.

Getting more information Sometimes, selecting objects on the graphs reveals additional information, such as the coordinates of a point, the slope of a line, or the x- and y-intercepts. Be careful when interpreting these values, however, because they do not take into account the units of the axes. For example, you can select the coordinates of the black point (plus symbol) you placed on the graph previously to see that the intersection of the curves occurs at the point representing a quantity of......boxes.

Selection lists In many problems, you will be asked to fill in blanks in order to complete sentences. When you see a blank line, select it, and your list of answer options will be revealed. Select your answer and proceed. Complete the following statement to see a selection list in action. A...... barks and wags its tail when its owner comes home.

Working with points Once you have placed a point on the graph, you can adjust its position by selecting the point again and repositioning it, or you can drag it off the graph entirely to remove it. Within the graph, the point will automatically snap to certain locations, or snap points. That is, you may be able to plot only coordinates that occur at multiples of 5 or whole numbers or sometimes even aperiodic intervals such as 1, 2, and 6. On the given graph it.....not possible to plot the black point (plus symbol) on the coordinates representing 6 thousand boxes and a price of $8.
