The statement is true. A standard survivorship curve just merely represent the population and mortality rate in its natural environment and at a certain time. If we moved the organism to a place with more or less predators the mortality rate would be affected. But this applies more to type 2 and 3 rather than type 1. Type 1 has the ability of surviving for longer period of time even if the environment changes due to their ability to adapt. But in general there is not survivorship curve.
