Explain why the New Englanders started the Triangular Trade and how did it work
New England needed a way to make money that wasn't farming, so they started trading. The Triangular Trade was the most widely used route by colonial merchant ships. One leg brought sugar and molasses from the West Indies to New England. New England would make the molasses into rum, ship the rum to Africa, and trade it for slaves. On the final leg of the route, enslaved Africans were taken to the West Indies and sold to planters. This part of the Triangular Trade was called the Middle Passage.
