Prince Henry (the navigator)
Prince Henry of Portugal sent many ships in the 1400 to explore the west coast of Africa. He is often called "Prince Henry the Explorer" because he sponsored so many voyages regarding exploration.

The Dutch East India Company was a trading company by the Dutch since they had already established in the Dutch East Indies.
Treaty of Tordesillas
The Treaty of Tordesillas was a agreement between Portugal and spain when Columbus had found "The New World". All territory east of a line marked through a map of the new world fell to Portugal while the west side went to spain.
Bartolomeu Dias
Bartolomeu Dias was a Portuguese explorer who led the first voyage around the southern tip of Africa called the Cape of Good Hope. His voyage from 1487 to 88 opened the sea trade between Europe and Asia for everyone.
Demarcation
Demarcation is when creating a boundary around something. This could also for example be a temporary border between countries.
Vasco Da Gama
Vasco Da Gama was a Portuguese explorer who made three sea voyages to India. He helped make Portugal become a world power to that time and opened a sea route between Europe and the East.
