Classification of Fingerprints Part 1
Radial Loop
loop opens toward the thumb
Ulnar Loop
opens toward the pinky
Tented Arch Fingerprint
same as plain, only in the very center there is a little tent shape. Ridges in center of arch thrust upwards and create appearance of pitched tent
Central Pocket Whorl
The central pocket loop pattern consists of one or more free recurving ridges and two points of delta. When the line of the fingerprint disc is placed on the two points of delta, it will fail to bisect any of the ridges belonging to the core group.
arch fingerprint
A fingerprint pattern in which ridges enter from one side, rise in the center, and flow out the other side. Absent of deltas and cores
loop fingerprint
Begin at one side of finger, curve around/upward, exit other side. One core and one delta
whorl fingerprint
Central circle area with ridges circling around it. Minimum one core and two deltas.
Fingerprints Unique
Due to the development of the fetus in the womb
Accidental Whorl
Name this fingerprint: A mix of different patterns. Cannot be classified as any other pattern.
plain whorl
Name this fingerprint: Two deltas, a line drawn between the deltas goes through the central pocket
Double Loop Whorl
Name this fingerprint: Two deltas, two ridge lines curve around one another forming an S shape
Core (Fingerprint)
a center of a loop or whorl
