Compound Subjects
Conjunctions
Connecting words and, or, and but. Use conjunctions to make subjects, predicates, and sentences compound.
Example of Conjuction
David AND Jennifer are brother AND sister.
Compound Predicates
A sentence containing two or more simple predicates. Often joined by connecting word such as and or or.
Compound Subject
A sentence containing two or more simple subjects. Often joined by connecting word such as and or or.
Example of Simple Sentence with Compound Predicate
My dog BARKED and GROWLED at the mailman.
Example of Conjunction
Shall we go to the movies OR go bowling?
Compound Sentences
Two simple sentences joined by a comma and a connecting word like AND, OR, or BUT.
Example of Conjunction
We could kayak today, BUT the water is rough.

YOU and I will enjoy the movie this weekend.
Example of a Compound Sentence
You eat the banana and peanut butter sandwich, and I'll eat the jelly and peanut butter sandwich.
