CORONARY ARTERIES
What are the arteries that branch off the left coronary artery?
circumflex artery, anterior interventricular artery
What are the arteries that branch off the right coronary artery and feeding the right atrium and right ventricle area?
marginal arteries
What are the arteries that branch of the right coronary artery?
marginal arteries and posterior interventricular artery
What are the anterior coronary arteries?
right coronary artery (RCA), left coronary artery (LCA), marginal arteries, anterior inter ventricular artery, circumflex artery
left coronary artery
supplies blood to the left ventricle, left atrium, and interventricular septum; supply oxygen rich blood to the myocardium of the heart; one of the first arteries that branch off the ascending aorta
circumflex artery
supplies the left atrium and the posterior walls of the left ventricle wraps around towards the posterior side of the heart
Posterior Inter-ventricular artery
supplies the posterior surface of the left and right ventricles
right coronary artery
wraps around to the posterior of the heart supplies right atrium and most of right ventricle; supply oxygen rich blood to the myocardium of the heart; one of the first arteries that branch off the ascending aorta
What are some structures on the posterior side of the heart?
Left Atrium, 4 pulmonary veins, coronary sinus
Is there anatomical positioning on the posterior side of the heart?
NO! Since we are looking at the posterior their right is our right and their left is our left!
What are posterior coronary arteries?
Right Coronary Artery, Posterior Inter-ventricular artery, circumflex artetry
anterior interventricular artery
aka "left anterior descending artery" nickname "widowmaker" this artery is the most commonly clogged artery; most lethal and most common type of heart attack supplies the anterior surface of both ventricles and most of the interventricular septum
marginal arteries
branches of the right coronary artery that supply blood to the superficial portions of the right ventricle
