Antagonist
A character or force in conflict with the main character
Protagonist
Main character in a story
narrator
Person telling the story

Sequence of events in a story
Exposition
an introduction that provides necessary details about characters and setting; the main problem or conflict is introduced.
Denouement/resolution
the conclusion to the story that reveals the solution to the problem/conflict; not all stories have clear resolutions.
Falling Action
the event(s) after the climax/turning point leading to the resolution.
Climax/turning point
the highest point in the story where the problem/conflict reaches its peak; the turning point can be the event right before the climax, or can also be considered the climax.
Rising Action
the part of the story that develops the problem/conflict through a series of events that build interest and/or suspense; these events lead up to the climax/turning point
conflict
the problems or complications in the story.
