Endorsements and Discounts
AAA Member Package Endorsement
Increases limits for bail bonds, loss of earnings, substitute transportation, and other additional benefits. May not be used in combination with the VIP Package Endorsement. Provided at no cost
AAA Membership
Provides an enhancement to limits and coverages under the AAA Member Package Endorsement along with a favorable adjustment to the rating factor. MAIP policies are not eligible for this endorsement. AAA membership is no longer considered a discount.
Shop Smart Discount
A credit available on New Business policies designed to attract customers from other carriers. Applicants must have insurance with another company for a minimum of 6 months with no lapse in the last 3 years. The credit reduces annually over the roll back period. The application must be submitted 7 days prior to the effective date.
DriveAdvisor
A voluntary program in which a devise is installed in the insured vehicle that collects data about the insured's driving patterns. There is a 5% discount for participants.
Experienced Operator
An operator that has been actively licensed for 6 or more years.
Inexperienced Operator
An operator that has been actively licensed for fewer than 6 years.
Rated Operator
An operator whose class and points are used to rate the policy.
Annual Mileage Discount
Applicable to private passenger vehicles that are driven 20,000 miles/year or less. The vehicle must have been owned for six months or more prior to policy term.
Account Discount
Applies to all coverages on a personal auto policy. The Named Insured or spouse must have an active MA property insurance policy on their principal place of residence with a qualifying homeowner carrier
Green Discount
Discount applied when the insured is enrolled in EFT, or e-bill and electronic delivery of forms.
Commerce Elite Package Endorsement
Includes additional coverages of Collision and Limited Collision Deductible Savings, Original Equipment Manufacturer Parts, Mechanical Parts Replacement, Emergency Travel Expense, Additional Towing & Labor, and Accidental Discharge of Airbag. Carries a $35 premium.

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
Class 15 Discount
Operators age 65 and older who would otherwise be listed as class 10, are listed as Class 15. The Experienced Operator (Class 15) provides a 25% discount, which adjusts the premium at the principal operator's attainment of age 65.
Multi Car Discount
Provided to insureds/spouses residing in the same household who have 2 or more private passenger vehicles insured with MAPFRE. Motorcycles qualify as long as the policyholder insures 2 or more qualifying automobiles.
Motorcycle Accessory Coverage
Provides protection from physical damage to or loss of accessories on a motorcycle or motorcycle trailer, other than those that are original manufacturer installed and which alter the appearance or performance of the trailer or motorcycle.
Commerce Enhancer Package Endorsement
Provides similar coverage as the AAA Member and VIP Package Endorsements for insured's not eligible for those packages. This endorsement requires a $20 annual premium.
Accident Forgiveness
With this endorsement, MAPFRE will waive and not assign points for an at-fault accident if the driver and vehicle are listed at the time of the accident and the operator involved was not deferred or excluded. Cost is 5% of the premium. Additional conditions apply.
Anti Theft Devices Discount
Vehicles that have a qualified device installed to prevent the theft of, or to assist in the recovery of a stolen vehicle are eligible.
Retail Benefit Program
Voluntary program available to all policyholders with no impact on premiums. Benefits include discounts on products and services provided by 3rd party retail stores, extended warrantees and other rewards. Insured receives an email with details of the program after policy issue.
Symbol
Developed by the ISO's Vehicle Series Rating program. Rating symbols are assigned based on vehicle make, model, body style, MSRP, and year class. They are used for determining the base premium for an auto insurance policy.
Smart Driver Discount
Discount applied when a rated operator has completed a company approved Advanced Driver or teenSMART Program. Additional eligibility rules apply.
Paid in Full Discount
Discount applied when the entire annual premium is paid in full at the time of down payment for new business or upon the first installment for renewals. Available to voluntary and MAIP policies with MAPFRE rates.
Disappearing Deductible Credit
Eligible policyholders with a full incident free year, begin to receive $50 in deductible credits for the next 4 consecutive clean years after the initial clean year. In the 5th consecutive clean year, a $100 credit is earned. A maximum of $300.
MAPFRE Employee Discount
A 20 % discount available for full and part time employees and/or spouses.
Clean in 3 Discount
A 5% discount applied when a rated driver has had no at fault accidents or traffic violation surcharges during the three years immediately preceding the policy effective date.
Marketing Partner Discount
A discount applied when the insured has a verifiable business relationship with a marketing partner of MAPFRE during the 12 months preceding the policy effective date. Reverification of this business relationship is required on renewal.
Excluded Operator
A listed operator on the policy that is prohibited from driving any or all vehicles on the policy, at the instruction of the insured.
Suspension of Coverage and Reduction of Limits
A mandatory endorsement to suspend coverage for anyone residing in the household whose driving privilege has been suspended or revoked. Typically initiated by MAPFRE's MRB unit. A Legal Notice of Endorsement will be sent to the insured to advise of this action.
Occasional Operator
A person who has an operator's license and operates the insured auto less than the principle operator.
Principal Operator
A person who has an operator's license and uses the insured auto more than any other listed operator.
Deferred Operator
A process by which listed and rated operators on a MA Auto policy are not rated or surcharged on other policies.
Operator Class
A rating of drivers based on their operator experience. Appropriate classing will ensure that adequate premium is generated to cover the loss exposure.
Student Away From Home Discount
Applied when a rated operator in an inexperienced class (17-26) is residing at an educational institution over 100 miles from the principal garaging location, and does not have regular access to the vehicle.
Auto Loan/lease Program
Comprehensive is extended to provide coverage for the difference between the outstanding indebtedness on a loan or lease for a new vehicle and the actual cash value of the vehicle. A charge of 5% of the Part 7 and Part 9 premiums is added for this endorsement.
Welcome Back Credit
Credit applied when a former MAPFRE policyholder returns as a new business policy holder. The insured must have been away from MAPFRE for a minimum of 6 months but not more than 48 months, and has no prior lapse within the last 3 years.
Use of Other Autos
Extends coverage for individuals and/or household members, who own an auto but also drive borrowed or rented autos. This does not cover vehicles furnished for public or livery conveyance.
Good Student Discount
10% discount offered when a rated operator is inexperienced (Class 17-26) and is certified as a full time student. Specific scholastic achievement requirements must be met.
Operator Assignment
The process by which operators are identified as principal or occasional operators of a vehicle. Each operator on the policy must be assigned to an auto on the policy.
Commerce VIP Package Endorsement
This endorsement automatically applies additional benefits to policies written by Horace Mann Insurance Brokers for approved Education Groups. It provides increased limits for bail bonds, a waiver of deductible for mischief or vandalism that occurs on school property, and other benefits.
Vehicle Sharing Exclusion
Vehicle sharing creates concerns about operators of a vehicle who cannot be regulated and accurately rated by the insurer. The vehicle becomes a livery vehicle, which is excluded under the auto policy. As a result, vehicles used in this manner are excluded under the MA Auto Policy.
