Formula Bar
A bar at the top of the Excel window that you use to enter or edit values or formulas in cells or charts. Displays the constant value or formula stored in the active cell.
Absolute Cell Reference
A cell reference that refers to cells by their fixed position in a worksheet; an absolute cell reference remains the same when the cell formula is copied
Function
A prewritten formula that takes a value or values, performs an operation, and returns a value or values.
Auto Fill
An Excel feature that generates and extends values into adjacent cells based on values of selected cells
Format
Changing the appearance of cells and worksheet elements to make a worksheet attractive and easy to read
Chart
Charts are visual representations of worksheet data
Data Point
Individual values that are plotted in a chart. Related data points make up a data series. Data points are represented by bars, columns, lines, slices, dots, and other shapes. These shapes are called data markers.
Data Series
Related data points that are plotted in a chart and originate from datasheet rows or columns.

Active Cell
The cell, surrounded by a black border ready to receive data or be affected by the next excel command
Auto Cell
The cell, surrounded by a black border, ready to receive data or be affected by the next excel command
Accounting Number Format
The excel number format that applies to a thousand comma separator when appropriate
Fill Handle
The small black square in the lower-right corner of the selection
Chart Types
Various chart formats used in a way that is meaningful for a reader; common examples are column charts, pie charts, and line charts
Label
another name for text values, and which usually provides information about number values.
AutoSum
button that provides quick access the the SUM function
General Format
default format that excel applies to numbers this format has no specific characteristics
Cell Style
defined set of formatting characteristics, such as fonts and font sizes, number formats, cell borders, and cell shading.

AutoFit
is a feature in Microsoft Excel that automatically adjusts the width or height of a cell.
Column Heading
is the colored row of letters used to identify each column within the sheet, or workbook.
Chart Style
overall visual look of a chart in terms of its graphic effects, colors, and backgrounds; for example, you can have flat or beveled columns, colors that are solid or transparent, and backgrounds that are dark or light
