Explain the building blocks, functions/structure, and examples of the following macromolecules:
Nucleic Acid
Function: DNA & RNA, stores and transfers the genetic info, DNA codes proteins, tells how to build the cell. Structure: draw 3 pictures. Building blocks: nucleotides. Examples: DNA & RNA.
Lipids
Function: Stores energy, barriers, protect, and insulator. Structure: draw picture. Building Blocks: Glycerol and 1-3 fatty acid chains. Examples: fats, waxes, and oils.
Protiens
Function: Structure, energy, speeds up reactions(enzymes), hemoglobin helps transport oxygen, antibodies fight infections. Structure: draw picture Building Blocks: amino acids. Examples: enzymes, antibodies, & hemoglobin.
Carbohydrates
Function: The body's main source of fuel and are used by the body for energy. Used in communication between cells. Structure: draw picture. Building Blocks: Glucose and Monosaccharides. Examples: Glucose, Sucrose, Fructose, Lactose. Anything that ends in -ode.
