Artigas Gardens

A Park built between 1905 and 1906, and were designed by the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. As with many others of his works, Gaudí filled the gardens with arches and Catholic symbols.

Parc Guell

A public park system composed of gardens and architectonic elements located on Carmel Hill, in Barcelona. The park was built between 1900 and 1914 and was officially opened as a public park in 1926. Features a mosaic salamander at the park's entrance.

Casa Calvet

His most conventional building; alternating deep and shallow balconies. Located in upscale Barcelona neighborhood.

Episcopal Palace of Astorga

It was built between 1889 and 1913. Designed in the Catalan Modernisme style, it is one of only three buildings by Gaudi outside Catalonia.

Casa Batllo

"House of Bones", Exterior covered with mosaics; Roof is arched and "scaled" to represent the back of a dragon. Cross at the top represents the Saint George slaying the dragon. Remodel of a house in Barcelona.

El Capricho

Belongs to the architect's orientalist period. The tower has been compared to a minaret.

Casa Mila

Example of art nouveau. Features twisting forms of hand-cut stone, embellishments of wrought iron, conservative in its use of cut stone, interior spaces marked by elastic walls, modern apartment building. Sea motif and balconies look like seaweed.

Casa Vicens

First important building; for a rich family who owned a ceramic company. Shows some Islamic influences. World Heritage Site

Sagrada Familia

Its three grand facades depict the Nativity, the Glory, and the Passion, sculpted in relief by Josep Subirachs. It will have 18 spires upon completion. Remains unfinished. Catholic basilica in Barcelona, Spain.

Eusebi Güell

Spanish entrepreneur who profited greatly from the industrial revolution in Catalonia in the late 19th century. Worked in the textiles industry. Hired Guadi to produce several pieces, including a major park and a palace. Discovered Gaudi at the World's Fair in Barcelone...Gaudi had created a glass cabinet for the fair.

Casa Botines

While Gaudí was finishing the construction of the Episcopal Palace of Astorga, his friend and patron, Eusebi Güell recommended that he build a house in the center of León.

Hotel Attraction

Plans for an unbuilt skyscraper in NYC. Was later proposed to go into Ground Zero, but that idea was rejected.
