1. Sound waves are produced 2. Sound waves travel to receiver 3. Sound waves are caught and converted 4. Electrical signals are transferred 5. Interpret the data

6 Steps - Ultrasound

1. Transducer (probe) emits short pulses of ultrasonic waves to a patients anatomy. "pulse echo ultrasound" 2. Ultrasonic waves hit tissues and rebound back into transducer. 3. Transducer is designed to catch returning ultrasonic waves and convert them into electrical signals. 4. Electrical signals are transmitted to a computer 5. Computer interprets electrical signals, determining what it "hears" and calculating where tissues are. 6. Computer is able to reassemble those electrical signals into an actual image.
