Global Trade Content: general gtm
A Global Trade Management solution that is a centralized repository of rules, regulations, and reference information that the TR content team maintains and updates on a regular basis.
Bill of Lading: import/export management
A document that is a receipt for cargo received on board and is evidence of the contract between shipper and ship owner. It is also evidence of title to the goods described on it. Establishes the terms of a contract between a shipper and a transportation company under which freight is to be moved between specified points for a specified charge. Usually prepared by the shipper on forms issued by the carrier, it serves as a document of title, a contract of carriage, and a receipt for goods. Also see Air Waybill, Inland Bill of Lading, Ocean Bill of Lading, and Through Bill of Lading.
Test Plan/Script: general gtm
A document/guide to send out to the client that has suggestions on how to test their solution.
Excluded Words: DPS
A function in the DPS solution that allows users to eliminate commonly used words found in entity names when they do Ad-Hoc searches.
Grey List Management: DPS
A function in the DPS solution that is used to manage gray lists of entities.
License Management: DPS
A function of the EM solution. Some shipments are subject to a license restriction and the EM/IM to ha the capability of helping apply a license.
World Trade Organization (WTO): general gtm
A global organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world's trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.
Company Maintenance: DPS
A screen within the DPS solution that users can access to maintain company partner data.
GLOBAL TRADE MANAGEMENT (GTM): general gtm
A single tenant hosted environment that allows our clients to connect via SAP (ERP system) or through sending flat files (manual integration) to the system. Through the flat files or connection, the system can run a basis of multiple orders; the practice of streamlining the entire lifecycle of global trade across order, logistics, and settlement activities to significantly improve operational efficiencies and cash flows.
Tariff: general gtm
A tax imposed on goods when they are moved across a political boundary.

Partner Database: general gtm
Internal website that allows Implementation Specialists to search for previous implementations. In the Partner Database you can find Partner ID's, Account Manager information, their website URL, etc. This is primarily used at the beginning of the project to help create a new Partner ID.
HARMONIZED SYSTEM (HS) CLASSIFICATION: general gtm
International classification of traded goods on common basis for customs purposed.
Embargo: dps
Is a government order that restricts commerce with a specified country or the exchange of specific goods.
SCREENING PROFILES: DPS
Is a group of DPS settings that is used to screen a subset of company partners. A company is assigned to a specific screening profile which is used to determine the settings that will be used when screening that company.
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http): general gtm
Is a system for transmitting and receiving information across the Internet. Http serves as a request and response procedure that all agents on the Internet follow so that information can be rapidly, easily, and accurately disseminated between servers, which hold information, and clients, who are trying to access it.
Assist: general gtm
Is something that the buyer of imported merchandise provides directly or indirectly, free of charge or at a reduced cost, for use in the production or sale of merchandise for export to the United States.
Web Service Screening: DPS
Is the fastest way to screen parties. It's basically an instantaneous interface that individually screens parties and replies with the results. Webservices are sent via XML in a structured format.
HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE (HTML): general gtm
Is the standard markup language used to create web pages.
Settings Screen: DPS
Is used for managing how screenings are performed. This screen can also be used for the following: Viewing and changing regulation lists being screened against; Viewing all companies associated with these settings; Customizing which types of results will be assigned a given score value; Managing Escalation settings
Management Screen: DPS
Is used for reviewing and taking action on companies and/or searches en masse. This screen provides a full search history.
USER ACCEPTANCE TESTING (UAT): general gtm
Last phase of software testing process where clients validate that applications & their integrations with other systems behave as expected from user's perspective. Where deficiencies are uncovered.
Sales Order: general gtm
Our client's customer has purchased something from our client. Our client then generates a Sales Order from their client's Purchase Order. The document is not usually generated out of ONESOURCE (would be considered a custom document) but can be sent to ONESOURCE from the client. If the client is sending Sales Orders, this may be because they might want to run DPS checks or data validation upstream before the items ship. If the client is unable to send us the invoice, we can flip the sales order into an invoice.

Automated Customs Environment (ACE): import/export management
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is the system through which the trade community reports imports and exports and the government determines admissibility.
Consignee: import/export management
The person, firm or representative to whom a seller or shipper sends merchandise and who, upon presentation of the necessary documents, is recognized as owner of the merchandise for the purpose of the declaration and payment of customs duties This term also is used as applying to one to whom goods are shipped, usually the shipper's risk, when an outright sale has not been made.
Trigger Point: general gtm
The point in which a shipment from a client's ERP system is triggered to be sent back to OneSource.

Docks: DPS
The tabs on the left side of a Lookup screen are referred to as "docks". Docks are used to further narrow down the database based on the specified criteria. The dataset displayed within each dock is an accurate representation of the current database. Next to each dock title is a number or icon.
Unit of Measure (UOM): general gtm
The unit of measure for a material. Pcs, Each, etc.

6-10-digit code used to classify a good.

A log that can keep track of changes to data. Updates to Products like ECN Change, HS change, etc.

World Customs organization (WCO): general gtm
An independent intergovernmental body whose mission is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Customs administrations. The WCO represents 174 Customs administrations across the globe that collectively process approximately 98% of world trade.
Common Carrier: import/export management
An individual, partnership, or corporation that transports persons or goods for compensation.
Commercial Invoice: import/export management
An itemized list of goods shipped, usually included among an exporter's collection papers. Supplied by the exporter, this summarizes the commercial transaction. It includes details about product, quantity, specifications, price, delivery and payment terms, plus the addresses of all parties involved.
SOAP UI: general gtm
An open-source application testing tool and is used to test SOAP, WSDL, REST, HTTP, HTTPS, and many other communication calls. A Configuration SME can take client's SOAP requests and plug it into SOAP UI to simulate what the client is seeing on their ERP side.

GREY LISTS: DPS
Gray lists are lists of entities that may not have been banned by a regulation or government authority, but a company has actively decided not to do business with. In these instances, the company has decided to screen for these entities the same way they would for actual denied entities.

AUTOMATED EXPORT SYSTEM (AES): import/export management
Automated Export System provides an alternative to filing paper Electronic Export Information (EEI). Export information is collected electronically and edited immediately, and errors are detected and corrected at the time of filing.

First phase in a GTM implementation; Activities include - Assign project team, kickoff call, and sending out standard documentation to gather requirements.

Fourth phase in a GTM implementation; Activities include - Provide user training, execute and complete user acceptance testing, two-week configuration freeze, establish prod environment, and go-live.

Third phase in a GTM implementation; Activities include - Setup and complete configurations, unit testing, and creating users/roles.
Denied Party Screening (DPS): DPS
This Global Trade Management solution is a comprehensive global referencing tool that simultaneously scans multiple control lists from all around the world. This screening process searches for denied persons, groups, organizations, and entities plus embargoed or sanctioned countries all within a single, intuitive search. Lowers risk to companies who might go into business with a denied party.
Invoice: general gtm
This is a purchase receipt of the goods being shipped from our client to their customer. Once an invoice is generated, it means that the goods have probably been picked and packed but not necessarily shipped yet. We need to receive the invoice before the goods have shipped (this is important). The documents we generate in addition to the invoice generally are included with the goods in the shipment - e.g. packing list and shippers letter of instruction (SLI).
Escalation: general gtm
This term means to rise or increase something to a higher authority; Normally used during an implementation when there is an issue/problem and a manager needs to be informed.
ESCALATION/ESCALATION GROUPS: DPS
This term means to rise or increase something to a higher authority; Used in the DPS module to escalate a screening to someone of higher authority. Escalation Groups can be set up in a client's DPS environment. Depending on the amount of Escalation groups the client needs, they can either be set up on the standard DPS groups or you can add up to four escalation groups (with one group being Read-Only access).
Proactive Screening: DPS
Type of screening where a client screens all company data when client decides; part of the selection process for submitting companies for screening. It works by checking the partner's activated lists against the last time a batch was submitted.
Partner ID: general gtm
Unique company identifier
Instance: general gtm
Unique set of data records that should be maintained separately from (not commingled with) other sets of data records for a given Thomson Reuters Solution. This will be a plant, site, region, corporate, or other logical unit that needs to maintain its data records (information) separately from other plants, sites, regions, etc.
SIMPLE OBJECT ACCESS PROTOCOL (SOAP): general gtm
Universal language for machines to communicate; a communication between applications via Internet based on XML, a format for sending messages, a protocol for accessing a web service.
Data Import: DPS
Uploading company data, usually in the form of a batch upload, into the client's environment.
Spreadsheet Upload: DPS
Useful for adding and screening multiple parties to the system at the same time. Typically, parties are screened immediately after they are added to the system through the batch screening process, but this is not always the case. The best practice is to kick off the batch screening immediately after spreadsheet upload has completed.
