Turn off all noise makers. Look & listen both directions for signals of approaching train

keep both hands on steering wheel while crossing

As vehicle approaches RR crossing, activate 4 way flashers and slow down

Step 7

Continue to check mirrors and traffic

Step 5

Do not stop or change lanes while vehicle is crossing tracks

Step 6

Four way flashers are deactivated after vehicle crosses tracks

Step 2

Stop within 50 ft but no less than 15 ft from rail
