How does air move?

Why don't you feel air pressure and why don't paper bags collapse under it?

It is because the pressure inside my body balances the air pressure outside my body. It is because the air inside also pushes out.

What can ocean currents affect?

Climate. Ex. The warm water of the Gulf Stream makes northern countries such as Scotland much warmer than they would be otherwise.

Convection current.

Rising and sinking of matter in a circular pattern. Warm rising air causes low air pressure at the surface. The warm land makes air above it warm. This warm air is forced up by the cool air, causing sea breezes. The cool water will not warm the air above it as much as the land warms the air above it, so the cool air sinks below the warm air. Cool, sinking air causes high air pressure at the surface. Does not only happen in air it also affects ocean water and the rock deep beneath Earth's surface.

How are some currents made?

Wind, but deeper ocean currents form when cold, salty water sinks under warmer water.

Atmospheric pressure

Air pressure the weight of air pushing down on an area. It changes with height because the amount of air above each level is different.

Altimeter.

Help pilots determine how high they are flying. Altitude is a measure of distance above sea level. It actually measures air pressure. In a ballon. The air pressure is a little bit greater at the bottom of the ballon than at the top of the balloon.

What happens when you go up?

Less air above you to push down on you. Air pressure decreases as you go up.

Wind.

Movement of air that happens because of differences in air pressure caused by temperature differences.
