Syntax is the order of the words in a sentence and how it enhances or changes the meaning.

What is Syntax?

A retelling of a story or of something that happened. The narrative is also not the story itself but rather the telling of the story.

What is a narrative?

A close analysis of text to figure out what a text says, how it says it, and what it means.

What is close reading?

Diction is the author's choice of words to uncover deeper meaning. We look to see if there are words that evoke emotion, words that are repeated or emphasized, why the author chose that specific word and what the tone or the authors attitude is

What is diction and why do we look at it in the 2nd reading?

It is important to paraphrase because by having the ability to be able to put things such as key ideas in your own words it will allow for the information to stick and show your understanding of it.
