What motivates you to do a good job?

: I enjoy helping people. My goal when working in the customer service field is to always enhance the customer's experience by keeping them happy. I treat them how I would want to be treated and that includes smiling, being friendly, attentively listening, and of course help them. I always end with thanking them and asking if there is anything else I can help you with? Or It is important for me to meet the customers' needs. I give them the best service and when I exceed their expectations or get positive feedback it motivates me.

How do you handle stress and pressure?

: I react to situations, rather than to stress. That way, the situation is handled and doesn't become stressful. For example, when I deal with an unsatisfied customer, rather than feeling stressed, I focus on the task at hand. I believe my ability to communicate effectively with customers during these moments helps reduce my own stress in these situations, and also reduces any stress the customer may feel.

Why do you want this job?

I believe that I can directly contribute to WCTC's mission statement by helping people who are seeking a career and technical education, through life-long learning, which will make our community stronger. In addition to providing excellent service with registration, financial aid, and admissions, my skill sets would be a perfect match to support the department with the administrative needs like processing payments, and handling enrollment issues, along with other support staff functions. I genuinely care about people and want to help, which is why I'm excited about this opportunity.

What are your biggest achievements so far?

I could tell you my tangible achievements, like being credited in an academic book, training 500 nation-wide employees, and running special events for high school students, but my biggest achievement is I became a better listener over the years. I learned to listen to others, so I could help them find a solution and earn their trust.

How do you evaluate success? / What does success mean to you?

I evaluate success based on not only my work, but also the work of my team. In order for me to be considered successful, our team needs to achieve both our individual and our team goals.

Who is your mentor and why?

I had a boss, who gave would give me assignments to do and he learned to trust that I would carry out those assignments with expertise. I enjoyed his trust in me, but he also knew how to get his team to work hard for him by giving us praise and sharing the accolades. I've learned this style of management is very effective.

Tell me about a time when you disagreed with your boss.

I had a disagreement with my boss on how to do an assignment. It was easy to resolve by having a discussion on the pro's and con's of both methods. We didn't come to any conclusion which way was better, and I ended up performing the work the way my manager wanted.

Tell me about yourself.

I had a successful and rewarding career in customer service and training after college, and have learned many life-long skills along the way. I have a passion for helping people who are trying to better themselves, and like to participate in interesting academic projects. I have been involved in the Pewaukee School district for the past 10+ years, but I am looking for a new challenge.

Have you done anything to further your experience?

I have continued to take classes online to kept up with technology.

What is your greatest strength(s)?

I have excellent customer service and communication skills. I believe that communication skills are crucial in every job, but especially in this one. I pride myself in my ability to resolve difficult issues. My many years of experience working with the public, in both academics and the private sector, have taught me to effectively understand and resolve issues. An example of my customer service is when I was a supervisor; I had a customer who was extremely upset over not receiving the correct wedding dress she needed for her wedding. I apologized for the error, offered her a 10% discount, which was the policy, and I resolved the problem by checking the correct order number, had the right dress pulled, and had it delivered to order pick up. I apologized for the inconvenience, thanked her for her patience, and asked if there was anything else I could do for her. She was very grateful and thanked me several times for helping her save her wedding day. 2nd Strength Communication Wrote on-line training help system and implemented nation-wide to 6 Distribution Centers.

How are you when you're working under pressure?

I thrive while working under pressure because it is a challenge to handle high stress efficiently and effectively.

What is your greatest weakness?

I used to get scope creep on a project because I see other potential solutions in related areas to my project. For example, my team was working on solutions for an Orientation for students going on to Middle School. The orientation was only suppose to last 2 hours, but there were so many good ideas of how the orientation could be improved that it would have turned into a 4 hour event. Even though I have never missed a deadline, I have learned that it is best to first finish the project on hand, and then if warranted take on the additional project after it has been fully analyzed to see if it warrants implementing. 2nd Weakness: Sometimes I am too organized. I like to label my folders, organize my desk, and I know that it is not always possible to stay organized in a fast-paced office where so many things are happening at once. I used to stay late with the janitors just organizing for my next day only to have everybody drop piles of "to dos" back on my desk the next day. I've learned to deal with less organization at times, if it means meeting deadlines to forego my organizational habits. 3rd Weakness: Over prepare for a meeting. 4th Weakness: Develop more skills—every boss hopes you are an IT Genius, so I continue to work on developing my knowledge in all relevant software.

Are you a leader or a follower?

I'm a leader. While I'm more than capable of taking direction, I am also just as capable of working independently and making good sound decisions.

If your previous co-workers were here, what would they say about you?

I'm extremely organized, look for solutions to difficult problems, friendly and relatable.

Has anything ever irritated you about people you've worked with?

I'm very accepting of others; life is too short to waste time being irritated. I look for solutions not problems.

Why are you leaving or have left your job?

I've worked in different realms of education, but I have found that higher education is the most rewarding to me where I enjoy helping others discover their own passions through continued education.

Can you tell us something more about your working experience?

In recent years I was heavily involved with the Pewaukee School District working with teachers, support staff, Principals coaches and students. This is where I discovered I really enjoyed working in academic settings. There is so much to do, learn and being involved in helping students achieve their potential is very rewarding.

What do you think are your best interpersonal skills?

Listening, communication, friendly attitude.

What characterize a good boss/ colleague from your point of view?

There is no such thing as an ideal boss for me. I simply focus on my job and duties and try to avoid any conflicts with other employees. We are all different and I respect the individuality of each human being.

What was your biggest failure?

My biggest failure was underestimating the high level of bosses that sat in on a cost saving presentation I gave. I did not prepare my presentation for that level, so I was left scrambling in the presentation to include more details and answer higher-level questions. I skirted by because I had done my research and calculations correctly, but I never made that mistake again. I learned it is always better to be over prepared than under.

What are your goals for the future?

My long-term goals involve growing with a company where I can continue to learn, take on additional responsibilities, and help WCTC achieve exceptional growth. At WCTC, what is a typical career path for someone with my skills and experiences?

Give a time when you went above and beyond the requirements for a project.

My manager came to me one day to ask if I could look into stream-lining our production process from paper to an on-line program. I was already tackling two other positions in the company, but I agreed to look into it. The project eventually turned into a full time year-long project, which was rolled out into all 6 distribution centers nation-wide, where I managed the project and coordinated the customized program with the IT department and still maintained the other two roles in the company. I learned a great deal about multi-tasking, training, and was given an award for the project.

Why should we hire you?

My skills are a direct match to this role, and I have learned through my Bachelors degree in Business and Human Resources and previous jobs not only how to treat people, but also how to deliver excellent customer service. I have assisted young adults in the admissions and registration process, for both technical and 4-year colleges, so I have a unique understanding of what the student is going through and how they are sometimes treated. It's not just my background in delivering excellent customer service for major corporations—or my effective people skills, which have helped me develop great rapport with students, parents, seniors, peers and management, but I'm also passionate about WCTC where I can immediately contribute to Enrollment Services in making a positive contribution in the services that students receive starting on day one.

Neither, I would rather be respected.

What was the last book you've read for fun?

No Language but a Cry

Describe a difficult work situation/project and how you overcame it.

The most difficult work situation I had to overcome was working on a multi-million dollar project that needed to be rolled out on a schedule that wasn't under my control. The IT department experienced delays that would have changed the roll out date. I gathered the team together and we devised a new plan for keeping the original deadline, while getting and delivering the information while we were in the training field.

Would you prefer full-time employment to part-time if a job were available?

What is important to me is that I enjoy the work and the people I'm working with. I have many interests, and having a part-time job allows me the time to pursue them

What makes you uncomfortable?

When I see people who don't receive the help they need.
