The Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip came to an end in 2005. The Gaza Strip, while in part controlled by Israel, is considered to be governed by Hamas and its own entity.

Israel had expanded its borders from the original UN Partition plan, and Jordan had control of the West Bank, while Egypt took the Gaza Strip.
