"My greatest weakness is my organizational skills, even when I'm feeling strongly about things. I've recognized this, though, and it's something that I'm working actively to change.

Being a great listener, validating what they have to say, being empathetic towards their experiences. Everybody wants to be validated.

The university of the sciences is a multicultural school. I am actually apart of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. We were the most diverse fraternity on campus. Very diverse school, we have students from India, Russia. An example of how you met or exceeded a customer or client's expectation is when, (Week before holidays story) When I worked at the Philadelphia Veteran's comfort house, I just loved what I did that I was always the last one to leave and the first to come. My job wasn't really to close out the place but I wanted to be with the veterans. I'd always stay longer with them speak to them, and go the extra mile. I really enjoyed the stories they told us. The supervisor was really happy with what I did. Unfortunatley I couldn't continue after fall because of my internship and school. My shift would end at 8pm but I would always usually stay until around 9:30pm.

How were you managed in your past job?

Each work day involved each employee including myself checking in. My supervisor trusted me to do my job. It was an open door policy, if I had questions, I could ask him.

Tell me about a last time a coworker or customer got angry with you? What happened?

I have never really dealt with any issues with any coworkers. If any issue arises I'm going to talk to my supervisor.

How do you plan to organize your work responsibilities?

I have to say going to University of the Sciences is one of the most difficult schools, the professors are very strict, we always have homework and exams, you always have to be on top of your studies, because it's a science school, science classes, in order to keep myself sane I have to understand time management and organization skills, in order to be organized I write my stuff down, I have a google calendar where I list my daily tasks.

What is the toughest decision you've had to make in the last 6 minutes months?

I haven't really had to make any tough decisions within the last 6 months. When I make decisons I always weigh every possible outcome and how it will affect people around me. Every decison has an impact.

What do you consider to be your biggest professional accomplishment?

I just graduated from the University of the Sciences with a degree in health sciences.

"Where do you see yourself in five years?"

I see my self being in a higher leadership position with more responsibilities and hopefully more opportunities to grow within the company "My long-term goals involve growing with a company where I can continue to learn, take on additional responsibilities, and contribute as much value as I can. I love that your company emphasizes professional development opportunities. I intend to take advantage of all of these."

Tell me about a time you disagreed with a decision, and what did you do?

I talked to my supervisor, I called them aside, if it's management, I'll call them aside and give my own opinion. But at the end of the day policy of the company is what we need to follow. I always communicate how I feel with the supervisor, but at the end of the day, whatever the policy is, I will make sure I follow it.

Why do you want this job?

I think this is an opportunity for me to grow in the field of social work/public health. You guys are one of the top companies in this community. The mission statement says everything about what the company does for the community. I actually googled your company and you guys have really good reviews. I think it's an opportunity for me to work for a great organization, where i'll get an opportunity to grow within the company.

What is your leadership style? (How do you want to supervised)

I would rather have the supervisor give me detailed instructions and give me the opportunity to show my strengths, and the trust me to move forward.

How do you prioritize multiple responsibilities?

I write my tasks down and list them through a scale of preference. I make sure I get done what needs to be done in chronological order. I was a student I'd have exams, as well as being a student intern, I always made sure I completed every task.

I'm a hard worker because I was able to juggle rigorous school work and be involved on campus, I give 150 percent in whatever I do, I believe that what is worth doing is worth doing right. I'm very organized in the sense that I was able to manage various academic and organizational tasks and come out on top I'm a really good communicator. Whether it be over the phone, in person, or via a written medium, I can express myself clearly and concisely. I was awarded "Captain Communicator" at my most recent internship. I received several shout-outs from my manager for diffusing difficult situations with my strong communication skills, and I even got an acknowledgment in the company newsreport for just being really good at talking to patients. I think this strength will help me to do well on the job since being a receptionist requires interfacing with individuals from different backgrounds. I'll be able to make each person feel welcome and that their business is valued.

What would the people that worked with you in the past say about you?

I'm a hard worker, i'm a team player, and I have great work ethic, even my current supervisor knows that they can always count on me everytime. I don't mess around with my job.

I'm a recent graduate from the University of the Sciences, with a degree in health sciences. While in school, I held various leadership positions. Head of the student ambassadors, Head of various committees in my fraternity, Team Leader the Athletic Recreation Center, I'm very passionate about whatever I do, I'm a hard worker, and a team player.

Give an example of where you had to meet a deadline?

I'm a student at the University of the Sciences, we have so much we have to complete all the time, also I'm the head of the InterGreek Council. We would frequently have fundraising events. For a calzone fundraising event we had a deadline, that we had to meet. We had to have everything ready two days before the event. To make life easier I assigned different tasks for each committee. Each week by Friday on 5pm.

What type of work environment would you like to work in?

I'm hoping this environment is an open style where people interact whenever they want to, but still be able to get their job done.

Why are you interested in this position?

I'm interested in this position because I like working with seniors, I feel like it will help me in terms of my career, although my bachelor's degree in health sciences, I'm trying to lean towards getting my masters in public health and master's in social work. I want the experience and opportunity to grow in the field of aging. I've watched her work with seniors, she loves her job. I thought it was a great opportunity to step into the field of aging.

How did you learn about the opening?

I've always actually wanted to work here, I heard about the opening through a colleague. My mom has worked here for a long time she raves about PCA. When I was a little boy my mom used to bring me to work a few times, I've attended bring your child to work day. I've been interested in PCA due to the fact that you guys help the aging. As a matter of fact I've actually met the former president.

Describe your experience working with older adults and why you're interested in this population

My experience working with the elderly was when I worked at the Philadelphia Veteran's Comfort House, where my job entailed going there once or twice a week, keeping them company, serving them food, listening to their stories. After my experience working with the elderly veterans, for a couple of months, I see them as heroes because they fought for our country. I really enjoyed the connection I had with them. They gave up their own life to fight for their own country, I feel like we should do more for them, and with that connection I had with them. Many of this older population, still need more help than they are being given, because there are not enough resources within the community, that peaked my interest, and also the fact that my mom worked in PCA for almost 20 years now. She speaks so highly of the older population and the fact that they are filled with wisdom.

What do you believe are the major challenges in working with older adults?

Older adults are set in their own ways. Many people that are 60 to 70 years old are set in their own ways, they don't want to change. For example, my grandpa, who lives in southwest philly, we're trying to get him to go to the senior center for activities. He says no. Many elderly people are very stubborn, and they want to hold on to their independence as much as they can.

How do you use a computer in your current position and what is your level of proficiency?

Technology has been advanced in the 21rst century, especially the past few years. Everyone is aware of how to use the computer, where all of our assignments, everything is on the computer. Even when I volunteered at the Physical Therapy places, we had to document everything. I'm very proficient with the computer. If it's never documented it never happened. I'm familiar with Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, I'm a quick learner in terms of assessment tools. The last position I was in was as a Student Intern at the NovaCare Rehabilitation Center. Everything we did was on the computer, we documented patients, records in the computer, even with school, classes were done online. I'm a quick learner when it comes to the computer.

What are the two most important job/volunteer related experience you've had thus far?

The two most important job/volunteer related experience i've had so far is working with the veterans, in a veteran's home and also tutoring young children. Those two positions where very fulfilling, for the veterans although I was paid for it, the money wasn't even an issue. I really enjoyed it thoroughly, my school actually gave us the opportunity to work for the veterans home. Some of my friends and I went there twice a week during the evening, we helped serve them food, we listened to them tell war stories, we wrote them letters when we weren't there, we just made them feel good. We felt like we were giving back. My other role was tutoring young children, many of them were from broken homes, they needed extra help, they didn't really have parents that where there all the time for them. It was really fulfilling being able to help.

What are the strengths of the elderly?

They are filled with wisdom. For example, my grandpa could sit down and tell you stories, you can come to him with problems, and he'll find different ways for you to come to a solution.

Describe your dream job?

To be able to continue to excel in this company and be in a leadership role.

Describe a work or volunteer experience that did not go well and what you learned from it?

When I was a student intern at the NovaCare Rehabilitation Facility, there was incident where we had a patient that came in, my job as a student intern was to follow the treatment plan that are designed for clients. But for this instance the client was a work-injury-rehab client and I wasn't supposed to be involved as an intern. But I learned from that experience is that you have to ask questions.
