Rudyard: Akela, the great grey lone wolf, who led all the pack by strength and cunning, called his group together on the warm moonlit night in Seeonee Hills of the great jungle of India.

Akela: My brothers and sisters of the Free Nation. On such occasions as this, we usually gather to determine if one of our cubs is ready to join the pack. But tonight we come to judge another-a human cub.

2nd cub: What can we do father?

Akela: Nothing. If no one speaks for him, he must go with Shere Khan. It is the law of the jungle.

Mother Wolf: Akela, I heard such a racket. What is happening?

Akela: Oh, just some rowdy animals-engaged in foolishness.... There a couple of them right now.

Tabaqui: Should I tell him of your gratitude?

Akela: Out you mooching mongrel!

Tabaqui: How can such sweet children have such nasty parents?

Akela: Out!

Mother Wolf: No, Avoid him. As the leader of the pack, you must lead. Not fight

Akela: Sometimes to lead is to fight. when all else fails

Shere Khan: Tabaqui the jackel speaks the truth.

Akela: Tabaqui wouldn't know the truth if it fell on his head like a coconut.

1st Cub: Why does he always come to us for food?

Akela: Tabaqui, the dish licker, begs everyone for food

Baloo: There's no harm in a man's cub. I myself will teach him.

Akela: Thank you Baloo.

Bagheera: I am a member of the animal family-like all of us. And to kill a young cub is a shame. I shall teach him how to protect himself in the jungle.

Akela: Thank you bagheera. Two have spoken for the man-cub. Therefore he shall live-as a member of the wolf pack.

All wolves: Akela is chief

Akela: Thank you, Mowgli.

Tabaqui: Just like no animal has ever become human.

Akela: There is a first for everything, Shere Khan. Children! Bring the man cub. We shall go to council rock where I will call the wolves together. If they accept the boy, he will live with us-and be safe from you.

Mother Wolf: I suppose. But when it comes to Tabaqui, Im always suspicious.

Akela: This business about Shere Khan has me concerned. If I run into him tonight, he maybe be in for a fight

Shere Khan: Good!

Akela: Unless-two other animals are willing to speak for him.

Tabaqui: But Tabaqui does not need much. Only a dish to lick-or-. I spy, I spy-a bone to chew.

Akela: Very well. Take the bone and leave.

Tabaqui: Evening, evening, evening. How is it with my friends, the wolves, this fine evening?

Akela: We are not your friends, Tabaqui. We merely share the same jungle with you.

Mother Wolf: The villagers will be angry with us. They might even come here and burn our jungle with the red flower

Akela: We are very grateful to Shere Khan for putting us in danger

Shere Khan: You?

Akela: We are.

Mother Wolf: The village?

Akela: We do not bother the villagers or hunt their cattle.

Shere Khan: The pack will never accept him. The cub will be mine.

Akela: We shall see Shere Khan, we shall see. Now get out of my den-out of my cave-out of my sight!

Mother Wolf: But Im not sure food was what he wanted.

Akela: What do you mean?

Tabaqui: Not anymore.

Akela: What do you mean?

Shere Khan: I allow you. I command you!

Akela: What is going on here?

Shere Khan: The human cub. He's mine

Akela: What makes him yours?

Tabaqui: Don't worry, Akela. I won't bother you for food again. My friend, Shere Kahn, the tiger, will be providing me with the remains of many feasts.

Akela: Which is fine with us since Shere Kahn hunts far away from here.

Shere Khan: This way.

Akela: With his parents in hot pursuit. No doubt.

Shere Khan: We have also cast your precious mowgli from our pack. When he returns from wherever he is, he will be mine-all mine.

Akela: You shall not harm mowgli.

Mother wolf: Akela, you've returned! What are you doing back so soon?

Akela: A smell in the air told me to return. What is your business here Shere Khan?

8th wolf: Come, Akela. Take a vote. We have hunting to do.

Akela: All for allowing the man-cub to run with our pack say aye. All against, say nay. There is some dispute. If the vote in not unanimous, the cub cannot be accepted into the pack.

Bagheera: He has big round eyes

Akela: And he hops.

Rudyard: It was 7 o'clock of a warm evening in Seeonee Hills when Father wolf woke up from his day's rest and emerged from the inner den of his cave. His name was Akela, and he was the brave leader of the noblest wolf pack in the jungle.

Akela: Augrh! It is time to hunt again.

Shere Khan: Call it-a lucky guess. Now hand him over Akela. The law of the jungle says he's mine.

Akela: But if he belongs to an animal family, he is protected from other animals. That is also the law of the jungle.

Shere Khan- Quite right my short haired friend.

Akela: Does anyone outside of the wolf pack speak for this child?

Cub 2: Goodbye, Papa. Have a good hunt.

Akela: Farewell my children. Ill return soon if I get a quick kill.

Mother Wolf: Did you see how he kept looking around the cave?

Akela: For something to eat-that's all

Tabaqui: But he is a human cub-not an animal

Akela: For the moment, yes. But if he is accepted by the wolves, he will become one of us us.

Mowgli: Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about that. The red flower is not the only way to stop the likes of Shere Khan.

Akela: How did this happen?

Shere Khan: So give him to me.

Akela: How do you know he's here?

Shere Khan: Ah, it's Akela. Your time is up old wolf. The pack has elected me as it's new leader. Your reign is no more.

Akela: I see you have beguiled my children with your silver tongue-and your serpentine assistant

Hathi: About ten miles from here is a deep pit, dug by the villagers to capture the villians who are attacking there cattle. I shall drive these two to the pit and push them into it. What happens next is up to the villagers.

Akela: I shall go with you, Hathi, and help you find the pit-and make sure these scoundrels never return.

Baloo: What did he say?

Akela: I think he was thanking both of you.

Mowgli: I will!

Akela: Mowgli!
