What are the selectable I/O options?

1 Control output 2 Control outputs 1 control output and 1 External Output 1 control output and one analog output

What are some additional features of the FD-Q?

Ability to withstand harsh environments Compact design that allows the FD-Q to be mounted in close proximity, or in tight spaces. 3-State large indicator (Green, Flashing green, and red) Simulation mode that makes testing the operation of the outputs without the need for actual flow

Ease of installation for FD-Q series can be accomplished by anyone

Attach the bracket with 4 screws, Attach the controller to the bracket with 2 screws... *pause* And that's all. It's that easy and efficient.

So, why bother setting up new sensors? What's wrong with the ones we might already have, and what makes the FD-Q better?

Conventional flow sensors are outdated and difficult to use and install.

How do we stop negative variations and inconsistencies in flow?

Easy-to-read display allows employees to monitor flow directly from the unit Alerts when inconsistencies are detected send signals to a PLC, light, etc. Record and track operations. The FD-Q devices gather data constantly, and all of that data is presented in an easily-trackable system so that you may track operations and improve efficiency.

What are some factors that cause variations in flow?

Equipment related malfunctions -Such as a Strainer being clogged Human error/deviation Improper valve position control can lead to costly mistakes

What makes the FD-Q especially good at withstanding harsh environments?

High water resistance

What makes the FD-Q series sensor easier to install than conventional flow sensors?

I know that the idea of installing sensors can be intimidating, and may seem like cause for concern, but the FD-Q takes the hassle and downtime out of installation.[1] ● Put simply, it's a quick and painless process that saves you money, rather than costing you more. Think of this as a they-say, I-say. Big list of annoying things about conventional sensors, then a 2 point long list for the FD-Q.

What makes the FD-Q easy to set up and use?

It has pre-programmed detection modes , which we will discuss further later on Live monitoring of instantaneous flow - no delays! Quick setting codes

Difficulties of installing a conventional flow sensor:

It's an extremely difficult process that requires special knowledge/training, tools, and perhaps most detrimental to profits— machine downtime. The conventional method requires employess to; Shut down the machine and remove liquid from pipe(s) Cut the pipe Thread each end of the pipe Attach the sensor and union joint to the pipe Turn on the machine and allow liquid to fill the pipe Adjust flow amount to the original value Check for fluid leakage that may occur.

These factors result in a large amount of time and expense for your company.

Machine Downtime Pipe modification time Installation time Extra parts cost Sensor cost

What pipe materials/types is the FD-Q compatible with?

Many types. Common ones include Stainless steel Iron Copper PVC And others. Keep in mind, not only does it cover these types of pipe materials, the FD-Q is a non-invasive installation.

What's wrong with conventional flow sensors? Common issues include;

Mechanical Type issues: Pressure loss Continual maintenance Potential for contamination Moving parts of mech types lead to pressure losses, and they require continual maintenance to prevent clogging around those moving parts.

What makes the FD-Q easy to install?

No need for special tools or parts -You literally just need a screwdriver and the ability to use one No special knowledge required No machine downtime -No need to turn off the flow for your pre-existing pipes, wasting money

What makes the FD-Q so easy to integrate into our existing processes?

No pressure loss or risk of contamination Detect water (DI), oil, chemicals, etc. - It's compatible with various fluids, which are listed later in the brocure Detect through metal and resin pipes -Note: The FD-Q detects hazards without causing a break in the pipe it is attached to.

Further, what makes the FD-Q better?

Our primary advantage with the FD-Q is its innovative, cutting-edge clamp-on design feature. Rather than the sensor itself impeding flow, and the high potential for contaminants to be introduced through invasive installation make it almost counter-intuitive compared to the clamp-on design of the FD-Q.

What issues are there with Thermal Types?

Pressure loss Extra maintenance Unstable readings Temperature variations also lead to unstable readings. The probe portion of the sensor also causes pressure losses and requires continual maintenance

How are you addressing common flow issues with these fluids?

Quality Control Machine Protection Useage of actual fluid ^^^ The FD-Q can help with all three.

What is a Quick setting code?

Quick setting codes allow you to easily copy the settings from one sensor to a new one by simply imputing an 8 digit code.

What are the two types of displays available on the FD-Q?

Standard, which shows the actual flow amount Condition monitoring, which shows the relative flow amount

How does the FD-Q work, exactly?

The FD-Q measures the time it takes an ultrasonic signal to transmit from point A on the sensor to point B(t1). When the flow rate increases, the signal is accelerated, leading to less time for the transmission from A to B(t 2). Using the correlation between the time duration and the speed of the flow, the FD-Q measures the instantaneous flow rate.

Provide an overview of the installation method.

There are specific step by step instructions on the second-to-last page of the brochure, but essentially, you screw it on, then screw it on, then turn it on.

What are the three selectable operation modes?

Typical flow control, flow rate monitoring, and consumption management

What types of fluids do you, as manufacturing engineers already use in your process?

Water, for cooling Oil, for cleansing Chemical, for handling Product Production fluid, for example, which is of course some combination of the three.

What kinds of flow setups are compatible with the FD-Q?

● All sorts. Common flow setups include water, oil, and chemical.

What pipe sizes are the FD-Q comp adaptable with?

● Any size from ¼" to 2", ● Or 13.8 mm to 60.5 mm outer pipe diameter size.

What's wrong with the conventional sensors that we already have?

● Conventional ultrasonic flow sensors are known for their unstable detection. ● This is due to the fact that the speed of the ultrasonic signal is not only affected by the flow of the liquid itself, but also external factors such as clogging or temperature change.

What if the sensor needs to be placed somewhere that it would be impossible to read?

● For example, if our FD-Q sensors are mounted under or behind a machine ● By pairing the FD-Q to Keyence's MU-N controller, a separate display can be utilized, as well as increased functionality, in an easily-accessible location.

Possible issues/negative factors:

● High-viscosity, high-turbidity, or sparkling fluid may cause unstable detection. ● When the fluid temperature rises or the pressure is reduced, air bubbles may form in the pipe. Air bubbles result in unstable detection. o To prevent this, it is recommended to secure it in a position where the display surface is perpendicular to the ground (so the bubbles are on top, and bulk of liquid is at the bottom). ● Fluid containing bubbles presents the possibility for detection performance to be affected. ● The FD-Q Series cannot be used as a measuring instrument for measuring in business deal or certification.

What makes buying the MU-N controller worth it?

● Intuitive displays feature real-time graphing for simplified flow monitoring ● The Settings Back-up function allows users to save sensor settings on the MU-N and quickly transfer those settings to new sensors during setup. ● The Sensor Identification function allows users to easily identify which FD-Q is connected to a given MU-N controller, by making that unit's controller flash green. ● Network compatibility: by combining the MU-N series with the KEYENCE NU series, users can transmit recorded data over a standard industrial network, like Ethernet,CC-link V2 and DeviceNet

What advantage does the way the FD-Q works have over conventional sensors that we already have?

● Rather than measuring the duration of a single pulse, the FD-Q emits and receives two different sets of ultrasonic pulses. One travelling from A to B, and one travelling from B to A. ● By doing this, the FD-Q can stably monitor flow by comparing the two signals, rather than estimating based of one. ● This method of detection minimizes the effects of any external factors. (see image) ● The left image illustrates the current method of measuring flow rates, and the right shows how the FD-Q measures intervals, rather than singular blips.

DSS Function

● The key to consistently stable detection is the stable transmission of the ultrasonic signal that sensors use to measure flow. ● In conventional flow sensors, build up or rust on the inside of a pipe can become problematic overtime for conventional flow sensors. ● By using the DSS function, the FD-Q automatically adjusts its power to compensate for this build-up and provide long periods of stable detection despite these natural obstacles.

What is an example of a fluid's use in a factory environment?

● Water to cool a die in an injection molding machine
