-Line

A "line" is used to refer to certain idols or members based on age, roles etc. Ex. BTS has a rap-line and a vocal-line. Or they also have a hyung-line (which are the oldest 4 members) and a maknae-line (which consist of the youngest 3 members). There could also be lines outside the one idol group. Such as the 97-line which are a few idols from different groups that are all born in the year 1997.

Idol

A celebrity working in the kpop industry whether that's in a group or solo

Comeback

A comeback is the release of a song/album/mini album from a group. Usually called a comeback because there is a period of time between releases. It can vary from group to group depending on what they have planned.

Concept

A concept is the way a group will display their comeback. It's almost like a theme. Such as when BTS first debuted they had a bad boy/hip hop concept. Dance break

A dance break is a part of a song where they have...well...a dance break. A section of the sing where there is no vocals used and only a showcase dancing/choreography. Most kpop groups will have these. Ex. https://youtu.be/5hzqQSnL3y4 Ex. https://youtu.be/z4sgEVfctYE

Fan chant

A fan Chant is usually words or phrases shouted by fans at concerts. The most known are ones with the idols names and then their are certain chants that go to certain songs. Ex. https://youtu.be/B4zv9pecflc

Fandom name

A fandom name is what the fans of a certain group are called by the idols. Ex. BTS: ARMY, Stray kids: Stays, Seventeen: Carats etc.

Fandom

A group of people who stan the same group or person

Ultimate Bias

A idol who is not only your favorite within a group but also among all kpop groups.

Bias

A member of a group that you favorite within only that group.

Bias wrecker

A member who makes you rethink or question who your bias actually is. They become close to being your bias.

Sasaeng

A sasaeng is a obsessive "fan" Usually to the point of stalking a idol and over showing their love for an idol in weird ways. Some have been known to follow the idols and even take illegal pictures of them and seeking the pictures. They try to do illegal things such as sneaking into the idols homes or even buying plane tickets to be on the same plane as their idols etc.

Aeygo

Aeygo is a term Koreans use to describe an act of cuteness. Idols are asked a lot o by fans to do this in which they show something cute or "adorable"

Leader

Almost every kpop group has a leader. Ex. Kim Namjoon-BTS, Seungchul-Seventeen, Stray kids-Bang Chan

VLive

An app used for the idols to go live and interact with their fans in real time.

Eye smile

An smile is when an idol smiles so big their eyes turn into crescent shapes that resemble a smile. Ex. https://youtu.be/T0wsRwIJnlA

Finger heart

Basically a heart made with the index finger and the thumb to show love to fans

Trainee

Before an idol becomes an idol they are scouted based on talent and trained to be a perfect kpop idol. Their training is very very intense and they learn a ton such as dancing, singing and new languages. Some train for up to 7 to 9 years before even being placed into a kpop group.

Fan service

Fan service is basically things an idol does to make the fans happy. It can be from something the fans want to something attractive.

"Fighting!"

Fighting is the equivalent to wishing someone luck. It can show support and be seen as cheering someone on. "You got this! Fighting!!"

Hyung/noona

Hyung and noona are also words Koreans use to talk to elders to show respect. Hyung is used by boys to address older boys and noona is used by boys to address older girls

Roles

In each group there are usually roles given to each member. These can include main dancer, lead dancer, main vocal, sub vocal, lead vocalist, lead rapper, main rapper, sub rapper, visual, and center.

Fan signs

Its when idols have a event where fans can pay to get to talk to the idols and meet them. Usually getting a few minutes to talk to them and give them things. They also get to have albums signed.

Oppa/Unnie

Oppa and unnie are words Koreans use to talk to elders to show respect. Oppa is used by only girls to address an older boy who they are close to. Unnie is used by girls to address an older girl who they are close to.

Stage name

Some kpop idols have names they use fthat isn't their real name. Such as BTS J-Hope, his real name is actually Jung Hoseok but he uses his stage name, J-Hope. Or even Yoongi who uses Suga. And member of seventeen S.Coups whose real name is Seungchul.

Sub unit

Sub units are smaller group within a kpop group used for certain members to have a chance to show certain talents. Ex. Seventeen has 13 members but 3 sub units within that are performance, vocal, and rap.

The big three

The big three are the three biggest kpop companies. It includes YG entertainment, SM entertainment, JYP entertainment.

There are seven members in BTS

Light stick

Usually a object that has a handle and lights up a symbol to represent a group and their fans. It is used at concerts by fans to hype up and support the group. Ex. https://youtu.be/lqH7nz1GnOE

Kpop

a hybrid of korean rap, edm, and pop mixed into high energy performances. Groups are typically split up by boys and girls.
