LESSON 34:EFFECTS OF SOIL EROSION
EFFECT ON LANDFORMS
-Changes the appearance and structure of certain landforms -continuous erosion , denuded mountains could change their appearance and could possibly become hill or plateau - Human activities not only cause erosion but destruction of environment - it can be destructive when large masses would be scratched and worn away.
EFFECTS ON ANIMALS AND HUMANS
1. Soil erosion cause less food production , animals and human will have less source of food 2. Farmers will have difficulty in sustaining their needs if they do not have healthy soil to plant on. 3. When soil erosion happen in mining people and animal living in low lying areas are affected by mine tailings 4. less source of food for one group of animal affect the ecosystem
Human activities that aggravate soil erosion
1. deforestation 2. illegal logging 3. overgrazing 4. quarrying
EFFECTS ON PLANTS
1. - since topsoil is easily carried away by wind, the organic materials that serve as nutrients to the plants are also carried away thus plants will not grow faster. 2.-Sediments washed away by water clogged irrigation system thus cause less supply water to crops 3. - too much erosion cause soil to lose its ability to hold and absorb water, soil become dry and coarse thus causing the soil not suitable for vegetation anymore
HOW DOES SOIL EROSION AFFECT US?
Every natural process on Earth like soil erosion affects both living and non living things. It does not only shape Earths landforms it also affects the ecosystem especially if it happens abruptly and uncontrollably.

mineral waste or leftovers after the mining process
