- doesnt support locus of control -replication of Asch used 30 uni students and measured their Locus of Control and then their conformity. they found that there was no correlation assertiveness (found no relation ship) (S)- very controlled and standardised (S) good replica but dont always get the same result. (A)- temporal validity (A)- not ecologically valid (A)- if did now may not get the same amount of conformity.
Locus of Control- Brehony and Geller 2006
- supports locus of control - looked at people who were sex stereotyped. found that stereotyped girls were the most conformist and had high External Locus of Control. where as the androgynous women were least conformist and had high Internal Locus of Control, which helped them to resist conforming (A) can't tell what is affecting what (A)- can't prove cause and effect.
Locus of Control
if you have a strong Internal Locus of Control you can resist pressure to conform and obey more easily than if you had a strong External Locus of Control.
