King John was the king in English at the time. He owned the Northern Part of France, and he had a lot of military watching it. King John taxed the military, and they thought that was unfair, so they kind of slacked off. One day Northern France was under attack, and they lost all their land. John was mad. So he taxed the military even more. Then the military rebelled and captured London and John. Then the military made a document about equal rights and taxation purposes. They military forced John to sign a documber called the Magna Carta, and if he broke any of these rules he wouldn't go to heaven.
