Hyoid Bone
A bone in the neck, not articulated to any other bone.
Masseter
A muscle of mastication. It closes the mandible. A muscle arising from the Zygomatic Arch and inserting in the mandible
Levator Angulii Oris
A small muscle at the angle of the mouth. Elevates the angle of the mouth.
Mastication
Biting and grinding food in your mouth so it becomes soft enough to swallow
Corrugator
Draws the eyebrows inferiorly and medially, as in FROWNING. A pyramid shaped muscle of facial expression. This muscle lies beneath the frontalis and orbicularis occulii.
Zygomaticus Minor
Draws the upper lip superiorly and laterally
Levator Labii Superioris
ELEVATES & EXTENDS THE UPPER LIP. A muscle of facial expression. It is lateral to the "common elevator" and raises the upper lip.
Zygomaticus Major
Extends from the cheekbone to the angle of the mouth. Draws the upper lip posteriorly, superiorly, and laterally as in smiling or laughing

RAISES THE UPPER LIP AND DILATES THE NOSTRILS. The "COMMON ELEVATOR" of the upper lip and wing of the nose is a long narrow slip running beside the nose
Levator Palpebra Superioris
Raises the upper eyelid. A muscle of facial expression that runs from the inside of the eye socket to the superior tarsal plate of the eyelid
Platysma
Thin layer of muscle covering the anterior aspect of the NECK
Digastric
a DOUBLE-BELLIED muscle of the neck, which attaches to the mastoid process and the mandible. Draws the hyoid bone superiorly
Temporalis Muscle
a broad muscle arising in the temporal cavity and inserting in the mandible
Depressor Angulii Oris
a muscle of facial expression the arises from the mandible to insert into the angulii oris. Depresses the angle of the mouth.
Depressor Labii Inferioris
a muscle of facial expression; Depresses the lower lip inferiorly and slightly laterally
Spincter
a ring like muscle which closes a natural orifice
Sternocleidmastoid

Risorius
extends from the skin over the Masseter muscles to the corners of the mouth; Draws corners of mouth posteriorly
Origin
refers to the end of the muscle which is attached to a FIXED point
Palpebra
refers to the eyelid
Prognathism
refers to the projection of the jaws beyond the upper part of the face
Buccinator
supresses THE CHEEK, and it pulls the angulii oris posteriorly. It produces the ACTION OF SUCKING
Orbicularis Oris
the sphincter muscle surrounds the eye socket
Insertion
the terms that refers to the end which is attached to the movable part or to the skin
Mentalis
this muscle is located on the TIP OF THE CHIN
