Commercial Applicators
A certified applicator who uses or supervises the use of pesticides for purposes other than those covered under a private applicator certification
Registration
A EPA program to review older pesticides (registered before November 1984) to ensure that they meet current scientific regulatory standards
Private Applicators
A certified applicator who uses or supervises the use of restricted use pesticides to produce an agriculture commodity on his or her own land, leased land, or rented land or on the lands of his or her employer
Certified Applicators
A person qualified to apply or supervise the application of RUPs
General -Use Pesticide
A pest control product that can be purchased and used by the public
Restricted Use (RUP)
A pest control product that can be purchased only by certified pesticide applicators and used only by certified applicators or persons under their direct supervision. Not available for use by the public because of high toxicity and/or environmental hazards
