Bootloader

A bootloader is code on a hard disk used to boot an operating system. This code runs before any operating system starts. If multiple operating systems are on the same disk, it is typical to have a bootloader for each operating system.

Dual-boot

A computer that has two or more operating systems installed on the same disk. Users are typically given the choice at start up to select the operating system they will boot into.

Digital license

A digital license is a method of Windows activation that doesn't require a product key. Instead, the license is linked to a Microsoft account and, once used, is also linked to the hardware.

Key Management Service

A method use by volume license customers to activate Windows through a KMS server.

Product key

A series of numbers and letters used to activate Windows. Product keys are in the form of xxxXX-XXXXX- XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX where x is the alphanumeric value of the key.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC

Enterprise LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) is a long-term support version of Windows 10 Enterprise released every 2 to 3 years. Each release is supported with security updates for 10 years after its release. It intentionally receives no feature updates. Some features, including the Microsoft Store, bundled apps, Microsoft Edge, and Cortana, are not included in this edition.

OEM software references the bundled programs offered by a distributor. Among other things, this includes the edition of Windows 10.

Windows 10 Enterprise

Runs on standard desktop computers and notebooks that are based on the Intel- compatible x86/x64 architecture. Supports traditional desktop applications as well as apps from the Windows Store. Windows 10 Education

Windows 10 Education provides the same features as Windows 10 Enterprise but does not offer support for LTSC. Windows 10 Education is available only through Academic Volume Licensing.
