What is a normative statement?

A normative statements deal with how things should or ought to be. What things are good and bad, right and wrong.

It is good to be healthy. Pain is bad, and should be avoided. Life is valuable. To live is good.

Normative statements are an integral part of human life. They are fundamental for prioritizing goals and organizing and planning.

To try and live free of normative statements is to condemn yourself to a logically senseless and meaningless existence. A sentient being can live without scientific statements, but not without normative ones
