Describe a very difficult experience you have had, and discuss how you dealt with it. Discuss in detail the way in which this particular experience impacted your life.

A difficult experience I have had is overcoming being shy in group projects when I first started college. I didn't know what to expect or what was expected of me, but I was able to ask questions to the professor and classmates and eventually become the "charge leader" in my group for the whole semester. I learned to communicate ideas even if they might not be the best, until we as a group come up with the best ideas and solutions.

What is your strength?

I am known for being a person that sticks the same thing. For example, if I decide I want to do something or that I like a particular thing, I will become "obsessed" with it and try to know everything about it. I view this as a strength when it comes to education, as it motivates me to learn and continue to do better, even if I make mistakes.

What are your core values?

I believe that kindness and dedication towards others or goals, and myself are important core values.

What are the skills and talents you possess that will contribute to your future work as a nurse?

I have completed many different college courses in preparation of becoming a nurse. I hope to use these skills, among skills taught in nursing skill, to become a successful nurse. I also have compassion for others, which is something important for each nurse to give to not only patients, but their team as well. Teams are stronger with dedication and compassion, and I believe that I can be that nurse in the future.

what are your professional goals?

I hope to work in pediatrics as a registered nurse. This goal became clear to me as I grew up along my triplet sister, who has cystic fibrous, and watched how nurses played a big role in her life and health.

Describe a very rewarding experience you have had, and discuss how you dealt with it. Discuss in detail the way in which this particular experience impacted your life.

I was homeschooled for most of my life. So, starting college was something fearful, but exciting. I would describe it as a very rewarding experience because of the skills I've learned in communication, leadership, and social skills. These are things that are hard to grasp without proper social interactions that most people have in public schools, so going to college really opened those experiences for me.

Why did you choose our college / nursing program?

I was told about the school by my father who was researching it. I was interested in how your nursing program provides real-life training. I believe this will instill confidence in the students, especially in the nursing program as it requires deep level of commitment and training. My family also has an condo in Las Vegas, so the location was good in consideration of schools.

What do you consider the most challenging aspect of nursing?

In school, balancing the workload and new information. In general, balancing both the expected and unknown challenges, witnessing emotional events, and preparing time for yourself to prevent burn out.

Why have you chosen to pursue a career in nursing?

Most of my family are in the medical industry. Specifically, my mother and brother are both nurses. My inspiration for pursuing a nursing career comes from their stories of making a difference in peoples lives. Not only do their kindness inspire me, but how they push through tough days as a nurse. It is not doubt that the nursing profession can be overwhelming, but the way they balance their struggles to provide the best care is really important and inspirational.

What is your weakness?

My weakness is feeling guilty when when I need to set boundaries and say no. For example, when I say no to hanging out with friends to study for test, I will feel guilty. I try my best to know that my future depends on each test so I will continue to follow my goal over friends.

Can you name some of your qualities that would benefit you as a nurse? And is there anything you would like to improve on?

Qualities that would benefit me as a nurse are my mind set to reach a goal once I've set it, my dedication towards others, and my ability to take time for myself if needed. Balance is important when dealing with stress or overcoming things to pursue a goal. However, I would like to work on being shy. Sometimes I can anxious around new classmates until I form a bond of teamwork with them.
