Select any three (3) components of Eudaimonic Well-being. - Provide a specific example of how you think people's movement experiences might relate to each of the three components.

-Positive relations with others: Movement experiences are great to socialize and build relationships with others. Sports and exercise are a great way to build healthy relationships with others. For example, a mom moving to a new town may feel isolated and have no friends in the new town. She could meet people at her children's activities as sports. During her son's soccer practice, she jogs with another mom from the team. From this new relationship, more moms join in on the jogging group during kids' soccer. These women are physically active, but also learn more about each others' lives, jobs, and families during their casual runs. -Personal growth: Movement experiences play a role in personal growth. Exercise and sports are easy to track progress. Physically, it is easy to track weight loss or the amount of weight one is able to squat. there are also mental benefits for personal growth that relate to movement experiences. for example, someone who is first starting out working out may join a gym for the first time in their life. Week after week they are not only getting stronger, but gain the confidence to step out onto the main gym floor and socialize with other people at the gym rather than working out in a corner of the gym. -Self-acceptance: People who are physically active generally have greater self-esteem. Movement improves quality of life physically and mentally. Someone who participates in movement experiences that bring them joy will ultimately make them feel good, and possibly boost their confidence. For example, if a retired collegiate swimmer goes back to swimming 10 years later, they may find their love again for the sport. They will be happier that they are physically active and participating in a lifelong passion of theirs

Leisure time Occupational Household Transport related

Figure 1-3 of Sitting/PA Relationship

Less you sit, more active you are gives less risk of developing diseases and all-cause mortality More likely to have greater quality of life

Explain how making changes to the built environment to promote physical activity might lead to greater health disparities (inequities)?

Making changes to the built environment can lead to greater inequities. Economically advantaged and well-off areas could have greater funding to create numerous opportunities for the community to be physically active. Areas with more money have the ability to make greater changes to improve their environment. Areas that are struggling with issues such as safety or gun violence could have lawmakers who focus on those issues and don't pay much attention to policies that could create greater opportunities for equitable physical activity opportunities. Some areas may have almost everyone living from paycheck to paycheck. Other areas may have millionaires who have money to throw around towards funding a new playground for their personal neighborhood. Changes to the built environment that promote physical activity are always positive, but it is easy to forget that not all areas have the same opportunities and resources to expand physical activity in their neighborhood.

The Eudaimonic Well-being model includes 6 factors that apply to all stages life such as environmental mastery and personal growth. Personal growth is always occurring no matter what age someone is, and through the lifespan one needs to manage their environment to do everyday tasks.
