55 white men, women and children were killed. Turner was caught and hanged. Fear spread in the south causing the death of 200 African Americans. Laws were passed for African Americans, preventing them from buying, and doing certain things. After Nat Turner's rebellion, it was extremely hard for African Americans to find employment anywhere.
