Predicting Weather
What do high and low pressure do?
High pressure sinks to the ground and moves away from the center and usually brings clear weather low pressure rises into the air and usually brings cloudy and rainy weather.
How does the cold front form?
It forms by cold air mass pushes its way into the warm air mass the dense cold air forces the warm air to rapidly rise into the air which bring thunder storms or other big storms. It shown by a blue line with blue triangles on them on a weather map.
How does the warm front form?
It forms when a large warm air mass slides or moves gently over the cold air mass and it will start raining a little. It is shown by a red line with a half circle on a weather map.
Is a radar a really helpful tool for Meteorologists if so why?
Meteorologists need radars to find out any storms incoming and help observe and forecast the weather.
How are Meteorologists tracking weather better than ever.?
Meteorologists tracking weather is better than ever because by using all of the tools.
What do Meteorologists use internet for?
Meteorologists use them for putting data online, sharing data, and find data from other Meteorologists.
What is the instrument that helped Meteorologists find out the upper atmosphere conditions and what did it do?
The interment is called a weather balloon and it takes other interments like wind vanes up into the atmosphere.
What was the newest radar technology called and what else does it do?
The newest radar technology was called the Doppler radar and it does not only pickup pictures of the storm it also determines where the direction the storm is coming.
Who are people that find out weather. How are they different from scientists?
They are called Meteorologists try to find out the weather and disasters. They are different from scientists because scientists try to find out new chemicals and technology.
How are some ways you can predict weather without being a scientist.
All you need to predict is a Thermometer,a Rain Gauge,an Anemometer,a Wind Vane,Barometer, and a notebook.First you will have to set all your tools up and record the data on your notebook.Last compare your theory with the news or newspaper
How hot is each color on the weather map in Fahrenheit?
Purple stands for 10s Fahrenheit,dark blue stands for 20s Fahrenheit,light blue stands for 30s Fahrenheit,dark green stands for 40s Fahrenheit,green stands for 50s Fahrenheit,light green stands for 60s Fahrenheit,yellow stands for 70s Fahrenheit,orange stands for 80s Fahrenheit,red stands for 90s Fahrenheit.
What can satellites do today?
Satellites can measure cloud temperature, cloud density, water vapor, and land and ocean temperature.
What are some ways scientists describe weather instead of sunny or warm?
Scientists go deeper and adds more detail by talking about the temperature, how much water vapor in the air, wind, and air pressure.
How are some great ways to spend on a summer afternoon and what does it depend on?
Surfing, swimming, skateboarding, and hiking are great ways but it all depends on the weather.
Name the 5 instruments that scientists use to help them find out the weather?
The 5 instruments are the Thermometer,a Rain Gauge,an Anemometer,a Wind Vane,and Barometer
Where are the four air masses mostly found?
The Polar air mass is formed in the high latitude area are cold, the Tropical air mass is formed in the low latitude area are normally hot , the Continental air mass is form over land are generally dry,Maritime air mass are formed over water and tend to be sweaty or moist.
What do the 5 instruments help the scientists with?
The Thermometer is used for measuring the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, the Rain Gauge measures rain when it rains it fills up the bucket, the Anemometer is used to determine how hard is the wind blowing, the Barometer is used to measure the air pressure in the air.
When was the earliest weather satellites launched and what did it do?
The earliest satellites were launched in the 1960s and it could only send back crude images of clouds.
What do weather maps have that regular maps don't have?
Weather maps have symbols of were the snowy, sunny, rainy, and cloudy places are and has were the cold front and the warm front are.
What is it called when two air masses and neither of them move forward and how is it pictured on a weather map?
When two air mass meet and does not move forward it is called a stationary front and it is shown on a weather map by a line with both red half circles and blue triangles along one side.
