Where does the defining relative clause usually come in a sentence?

Comes immediately after the noun it describes. e.g. Children who hate chocolate are unusual. Einstein was a scientist who was misunderstood.

What is a defining relative clause?

It provides essential information that helps us identify which person/thing is being talked about.

What is the opposite of defining relative clauses?

Non defining relative clauses - they use commas in the sentence.

What is WHO used for?

People: e.g, She is an actor WHO makes comedy films. I told you about the woman WHO lives next door.

Places: e.g. That's the town WHERE we met.

Possessions: e.g. That's the you tuber WHOSE highlighters we use. Do you know the boy WHOSE mother is a nurse?

Relative pronouns (rp.): who, whose, which, that, when, where. There are others too.

THAT can also be used for people/things instead of WHO/WHICH e.g. Who - There is a woman who wants to talk to you. That - There is a woman that wants to talk to you.

Things: e.g. I can only watch films WHICH are funny. Do you see the cat WHICH is lying on the roof?

What is WHEN used for?

Time: e.g, The teacher wouldn't reply to emails one day WHEN I asked. That day WHEN I met the President.
