Financial Aid Academic Plan
A student with an approved appeal who has met with his academic advisor and who needs more than one semester to regain financial aid develops this plan. It determines the total number of semesters and the number of credits per semester necessary to regain financial aid eligibility.
Financial Aid Probation
A student with an approved appeal who has met with his academic advisor is placed on probation.
Measuring the Progress of a Student
After every semester, take cumulative earn credits divided by cumulative attempted credits = earned percentage. W and WE are counted as cumulative attempted credits.
Attempted Credits
All transfer, remedial, ESL, and Temple registered credits. Courses with W, WE, WS, WF, F, PI, AU, MG, and NC are considered.
Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal form
Appeals considered for death of a family member, injury or illness. Appropriate documentation must be presented.
Repeated Course Work
Courses repeated to improve a grade are counted in attempted hours, but only one passing grade is counted in earned credit.
Earned Credits
Credits earned toward degree completion. This includes transfer credits, advance standing, advance placement, and all courses for which grades of P, CR, D- or better have been received. Not considered: W, WE, WS, WF, F, PI, AU, MG, and NC.

Earned percentage
Must be 67% or above to be eligible for financial aid.

Must be submitted by the end of the 8th week of the semester.

Warning Status
Students below the 67% benchmark are on financial aid warning status for one semester, they receive financial aid during that semester. After one semester, if they do not reach the 67% benchmark, they are not given any more financial aid. A student can get financial aid warning status to different, non-consecutive times.
Unsatisfactory Progress
Students who fall below the 67% earned credit rate.
Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals
Students who have lost eligibility for financial aid may submit a written appeal. The deadline is the end of the 8th week of the semester.
Maximum Time Frame
The time frame for degree completion at Temple is 150% of the program's published length. For a bachelor's degree, the maximum credits for aid eligibility is 180.
