Skeletal System Function
What are the 6 functions of the skeletal system?
1) Support 2) Movement 3) Protection 4) Production of blood cells 5) Storage 6) Endocrine regulation
STORAGE
Bones stores calcium. Bone marrow stores Iron.
ENDOCRINE REGULATION
Bone helps regulation of blood sugar (glucose) and fat deposition.
MOVEMENT
Bones provide the structure for muscles to attach so that our bodies are able to move.
PRODUCTION OF BLOOD CELLS
The production of blood cells takes place in the bone marrow.
SUPPORT
The main job of the skeleton is to provide structural support for the entire body.
PROTECTION
The skeleton protects internal organs and fragile body tissues.
