What is ethnocentrism?
Assuming the superiority of someones ethnic group
What is scapegoat theory?
Finding someone to blame releases tension
What is prejudice a mixture of?
Beliefs, stereotypes, emotions, and the tendency to take action
What is stereotype?
Generalized belief about a group of people
What is just-world phenomenon?
Idea that good is rewarded and bad is punished
What is unconscious patranization?
Low expectations can hinder minority student achievement
What is discrimination?
Negative behavior toward a group and its members
What is race-influenced perceptions?
Our expectations influence our perceptions
What is implicit racial association?
People that harbor racial prejudice may carry negative associations
What is reflexive bodily responses?
People who consciously express little prejudice through telltale signals as their body responds to another race
What is ingroup?
People who share a common identity

Tendency to favor our own group

Tendency to recall faces of someones own race better than faces of another race
