Who influenced functionalism?
Emile Durkheim (1858-1917) believed in collective conscience = communal beliefs, morals and attitudes of a society, interest in how social order is possible and how society remains relatively stable
Functionalism
how a society (people who interact in a defined territory and share a culture) functions, and how the functions of society affect our behavior
social interactionism
sociological perspective most concerned with face to face interactions between members, a viewpoint from a person how it affects their social social orientation

MACRO, generally historically dominant ideologies, class conflict, large-scale picture

MACRO, society characterized by pervasive inequality based on social class, gender and other factors

MICRO, focused on the interaction of individuals and how they interpret their interaction

Max Weber, known from concern of the economic and sociology of religion. Person's power can be shown through wealth, power and prestige aka economic status in-class and in political parties.
Conflict Theory
a theoretical framework in which society is viewed as composed of groups that are competing for scarce resources *survival of the fittest*
