Executive Committee, Boards, and Management Councils: Subset of org selected by general assembly (5-20 members) who are responsible for generating the agenda actions items on gen ass. if they dont endorse an idea it will almost never gets brought to gen assembly for a vote 3. Standing Committees: Groups within org that deal with ongoing matters like rules 4. Ad Hoc Committees: Groups created to address specific issues and then disbanded 5. Executive or Professional Staff: Paid SPMT professionals who are employed by the gov body

1. Vision/Mission Statement: VS: What your org will become, future aspirations. MS: Org's purpose, philosophy, values, and description of what it is and what it does. Uses concise terms and language 2. Goals: Broad statements that are qualitative, providing the general direction for the org, and are achievable 3. Objectives: Quantitative, measurable, realistic, and tied to achieving specific goals 4. Tactics: specific actions or how to steps on achieving objectives 5. Roles: Organizational units that are responsible for carrying out tactics, behaviors needed for success 6. Evaluation: Managers must check to ensure that they're fulfilling the mission statement. How has the org successfully completed goals, objectives, tactics, and roles?

Primary Purpose of 5 R's

For a governing body to operate successfully it must be structured in a way that important information can flow throughout the org and be disseminated externally to others who need the information

Role of Organizing in Governance

Org structures dictate the flow of information, setting policies and rules, and philosophical statements. Governing bodies transcend individual responsibility in an org structure

Impact of Organizational Structure

Org structures influence the flow of information, coordination, collaboration and the allocation of power and responsibility

Regulatory Power

Organizations have regulatory power over members which give them the authority to enforce rules and impose sanctions. Different orgs possess this sanctioning power to different degrees.
