step 5: evaluating outcomes and your thinking (evaluation)
reasons
- deal with unexpected occurrences and reduce errors in the healthcare setting
evaluate data
- determining the meaning of the collected evaluation (follow-up) information related to the interventions implemented - does the follow up information indicate the issue resolved or getting worse? - did it make a difference or is the condition getting worse?
Evaluating and correcting thinking
- determining the quality of the clinical judgement used
Evaluate Outcomes (Evaluation)
- evaluating date - evaluating and correcting your thinking
The nurse must be knowledgeable about
- the previous information that indicated the problems, issues, corcens - patient information (data) that needs to be collected - making meaning of the information when comparing the original information and the evaluation of data
Evaluate thinking
- were they used, were they effectuve? - was the outcome expected? if not were they in normal range? - if the outcomes not acceptable, what may be done differently in the future ? - how did your thinking impact people affected? was it positive or negative?
