How much does geography affect people's lives?

Geography has such a huge impact on the way of life, both for people today and for the people that came before modern living. This is especially true for people living in the Americas long before air conditioners, cars, and even the nationwide shipment of food. Where these people lived affected everything down to what they ate and wore because they only had the resources around them and the ones they got through trade. For example, in the South Americas, the Moche, Nazca, and Inca civilizations took advantage of their geographical features such as mountains, gold, and land to function as a true society that has enough resources to provide for everyone. In Middle America, the Aztecs utilized their swampy island to make farming efficient. Using this land, they raised maize, squash, and beans, and soon began to expand their territory and gained more resources to create more surpluses. North America's geography was much more diverse and had more green land than that of their Mesoamerican counterparts. This allowed them more food options such as fish and seals, and also gave them more resources to build homes such as pueblos and igloos. As you can see, where you live can greatly affect what you eat, what you do, and even what your house is made of. These great native civilizations took what they had around them and made history.
