Because of his voyage two Continents established trading relationship. Vasco da Gama is one of the most famous Portuguese citizens ever.
His main voyage
He left Lisbon in 1497, his voyage was very long. He and his crew stopped at many trading posts along the way like Mozambique, Kenya and Mombasa. He arrived in India in 1498. Vasco da Gama established a tarding post there.
Who was Vasco da Gama?
He was a Portuguese explorer and a Knight in the order of Santiago.
Childhood
He was born in the late 1460's in a poor family in Sines. His dad was Estevão da Gama and his mother was Isabel Sodre. His dad was a Knight in the order of Santiago and was also a ships commander.
Rewarded
He was rewarded by the King and was given much money in recompense. He was nominated as the Conde de Vidigueira and that made him be able to collect the taxes from tow villages.
Early jobs
His first job was as a naval commander of all the sips along the Portuguese coast. He was also asked to go fight against the French trading ships that were attacking some Portuguese ships.
