Approximate

Not exact but close enough to be reasonably correct. Ex: my approximate weight is a hundred and ten pounds.

Horizon

The apparent line in the distance where the sky meets the sea or land Ex: we watched the setting sun sink slowly over the horizon. Horizontal Going straight across from side to side Ex: the shoeboxes were in a horizontal row at the back of the closet.

Course

The path over which something moves. Ex: the spaceship is now on a course to Mars. A way of acting or behaving. Ex: because it is raining so hard, our best course is to wait in the car until the storm ends. A subject or set of subjects to be studied ex: the high school science course includes several filed trips.

Destination

The place to which something or someone is going. Ex: the clerk your destination when you buy your ticket.

Sever

To break off Ex: when the plane crashed was proven to be in a spy mission, the two countries countries severed all ties with each other. To cut into two Ex: Irving accidental severed the garden hose while mowing the lawn.

Navigate

To calculate or direct the movement of a ship or aircraft Ex: Phoenician sailors navigated by measuring the position of the sun and stars. Navigation The science or practice of navigating Ex: clocks and sextants are instruments used in navigation.

Depart

To leave; to go away from a place Ex: the bus for Detroit departs at ten o'clock. The act of leaving Ex: we were sad after the departure of our friends.

Despair

To lose hope Ex: when neither the library nor the bookstore had it, I despaired of ever finding the book I wanted. A total lack of hope Ex: the look of despair on their faces told me that the situation was worse than I had feared.
