Eloy and Rosario

Found dead in desert. They never made it out.

Kevin

Kevin is 14 years old, and is from Honduras. He was one of the boys tying to get to the United States. He wanted to go to Manhattan and earn money to send to his Mother in hopes that she can leave her abusive relationship with his step-father, who rejected both him and his mother. He got into the USA twice, and was allowed to stay legally the second time.

Fito

13 year old boy from Honduras, who wanted to get to the United States. He hopes to find a job, and to possibly be adopted. Prior to departing, he lived only with his impoverished Grandmother, whose job was to roll cigars. He never made it, and was sent back to Honduras.

Juan Carlos

13-year-old Guatemalan, left a letter for his mother Esmeralda, stating that he was going to the U.S. to help her and his siblings. Juan Carlos' father abandoned the family years ago, so he feels it is his responsibility to provide for them. He also wants to find his father in New York, and confront him about why he's forgotten them.

Jairo

14 year old Mexican boy, who lived on the streets for one year, since his mother passed away. Schooling is important to him, and hopes to work in the United States to get enough money to hire a tutor. He planned on returning to Mexico, but was sent back early, before he could realize his dream.

Yurico

17 year old drifter from Mexico, who lived on the streets for 10 years. He was a drug addict, and cleaned busses for the city for money. He hoped to find a life free of drugs and violence in the United States. In addition, he wanted to find a loving family

Olga and Freddie

Two nine-year-old Hondurans being taken to the U.S. by smugglers, travel on Mexican freight trains. Olga is trying to get to her mother and sisters in Minnesota, while Freddy wants to reunite with his father.

Jose

nine-year-old Salvadoran, lived with his aunt, and had not seen his mother Rosa since she left to work in the U.S. three years ago. Hoping to live with her, he traveled through Mexico on a bus with a smuggler. The smuggler abandoned Jose, who was deported.
