Influence/Impact Grid

A grid used to identify stakeholders that groups stakeholders based on their active involvement (influence) in the project and their ability to effect changes to the project's planning or execution (impact).

Power/Influence Grid

A grid used to identify stakeholders that groups stakeholders based on their level of authority (power) and their active involvement (influence) in the project.

Power/Interest Grid

A grid used to identify stakeholders that groups stakeholders based on their level of authority (power) and their level of concern (interest) regarding the project outcomes.

Stakeholder Register

High Interest/Low Power Stakeholder

A stakeholder that should be kept informed about the project's activities.

Low Interest/High Power Stakeholder

A stakeholder that should be kept satisfied.

High Interest/High Power Stakeholder

A stakeholder that should be managed closely.

Low Interest/Low Power Stakeholder

A stakeholder that should be monitored with minimum effort.

Blockers

A stakeholder with a high level of power and influence and a negative attitude that actively resists the project.

Champions

A stakeholder with a high level of power and influence and a positive attitude that actively supports the project.

Detractors

A stakeholder with a low level of power and influence and a negative attitude that are against the project.

Supporters

A stakeholder with a low level of power and influence and a positive attitude that is in favor of the project.

Stakeholder Analysis Questions

A technique used to analyze each stakeholders by asking: -Are they interested in the project success? -Will they benefit from the project success? -Will they openly support the project? -What is their level of power and influence? -What are their expectations and how can they be managed?

Salience Model

A tool used to identify stakeholders by describing classes of stakeholders based on their power (ability to impose their will), urgency (need for immediate attention), and legitimacy (their involvement is appropriate).

Stakeholder

Any internal or external person or organization whose is either directly involved in the project or whose interests are impacted by the performance or the outcome of a project.

Key Stakeholder

Anyone who is in a decision-making or management role (high power) who is impacted by the project outcome, such as the project manager, project sponsor, and customer.
